Kind of reminds me of the finish on my 81 FXS Lowrider. The black wrinkle on the side covers looks very similar,  just not as much texture.

Good deal!
The brackets were dipped which likely accounts for the finish you see.

The front license plate bracket is still avail from G.M.

The ACC on the front tag bracket was on later production. Mostly all front tag brackets have a "C" stamping on either side of the lower mounting tabs, where it bolts to the valance. The same goes for the rear tag holders. The earlier holders have the 608 part number towards the center and the later has it up higher with the ACC stamping also.

What is considered later production?

Hey Dave, like Mike says what is considered late? Did you ever get my PM saying I found a set of spark plug wire shields? Just wanted to make sure your still not looking for them.

I agree - how late is late ? My 01C X77's original bracket is AAc - so is the one I bought in the 80's -

Interesting thread.   Had no idea so dug out my old license plate bracket.   Had it not been for some the posts, I would not have found the "AAC" stamp.   Lightly glass beaded the area is supposed to be and sure enough, there it is.  Small, thin font style, so pretty sure it's orginal.   I'll post pic's later.   '69  04C Van Nuys Build.

Know this is old, but wanted to add to the content. 5 years ago, I posted to this thread:
QuoteIs it likely that GM used more than one supplier for these brackets, especially for LA cars? I have a NOS front bracket with the GM stickers and AAc, but the rear bracket (def. original to the car) has the GM part # stamped on it, but no AAC...... I saw the eBay auction that people have referred to, and I went out in the dark with a flashlight to check my brackets... no AAc on the rear though  :(

Well, yesterday I was working on the rear of the car and noticed a stamp in the rear plate bracket that I hadn't spotted previously, when looking in vain for 'AAc'. It is a capital 'P' inside a triangle. Couldn't get a decent photo in failing light, but will have another go today.
Haven't seen that stamp before on any other component, or in anyone else's build thread AFAIK. Alternate supplier? LOS assembly peculiarity?

I thought the P with a triangle was a after market stamp from Paragon industries?

I think they also stamp the DZ carb bracket that holds the fuel line.

Here's a picture of the photo on my camera screen - not great, but enough to see the symbol. I have to figure out how to get the original image from my SD card to the iPad.....

Austin, I recall the carb stud fuel line support bracket thread, but pretty sure Paragon's logo is a 'PR' inside a diamond or shield shape. This plate bracket also has 'GM3913608' on it, and it's been on the car since at least 1971.

Old thread - Is there a consensus on the front license plate bracket? I have seen NOS brackets with the AAc on them.  But the original license plate brackets have a "C" stamped on each of the lower arms that does not seem present on the over the counter NOS parts. Thanks,
