AX coded Mirror on 1969

I am the original owner of a 02D 1969 Camaro (SS 396).  The outside mirror is marked B-AX-9.  I understand this was supplied by Ajax Mirror and has a February (B) manufacture date.  I know the mirror is original to the car.  I have found that Ajax was a supplier for GM in this time frame.

Does anyone have a mirror with the same markings (B-AX-9)?  Are there any Donnelly Mirror (DMI) mirrors with 2-DMI-9 markings?  I assume they ran out to the primary supplier mirrors (DMI) and used the Ajax (AX) mirrors.

Also are the insides the same as the Donnelly mirror.  I assume the Ajax mirror has riveted posts like the Donnelly mirror.  My Ajax mirror has a loose head.

I have a NOS DMI mirror with incorrect date code.  Is the correct Paragon Corvette number for the dated glass 2013D priced at $12?

Lots of questions.  Thanks

John, can you send me a picture of the AX code on the glass. I'm (still) working on the mirror report and the AX glass is one I'm missing. My email address is in my profile to the left.

We don't have a lot of mirror dates in the database, so I can't help you with your first question, but yes, Ajax was a secondary supplier to Donnelly, as was Standard Mirror. Rarely do you see either one on a first generation Camaro!

That's okay Chris. I found one on ebay and purchased it! The seller said it was a 8-XV-7, so I was excited to find yet another supplier (XV). However, when it arrived, I was dissapointed to find that he was reading the date code upside down, so instead of 8-XV-7, it was actually L-AX-8!

no problem, mine is upside down, when the mirror is installed

A lot of them are. It seems the workers didn't care which way they installed the glass.

Old thread, but... thought I would share for database info and tracking. I just acquired an AJAX K-AX-8 off of a 12C Nor. car. Guy down the road has a X22 vert. Keeps replacing all the original stuff with reproduction parts. His loss, my gain,IMO. He is making a Pro-Touring car out of it, WTF? His plans are to replace all the GM sheet metal with new repro. Hope to score some more stuff. No pics right now as my laptop is down. Got other parts to post later.
