This discussion with pictures is limited to the chrome air cleaner lids with back silk screen script.

Can anyone confirm if the same silk screening was included as white script on black painted lids, more specifically the air cleaner lids used with the ZL2 Cowl Indication?

Thanks!

After reading my January 2010 Muscle Car Enthusiast magazine, I answered my own question.

There is an article titled “Just Muscle”, featuring a ’68 Ram Air I Firebird 400.  Pictured in the article is the owner’s NOS A212 CW air filter, with the “AC TYPE A212 CW” embossed in the rubber rim of the filter, and NOS air cleaner lid.  The lid was black with the original service instructions in white script still legible on the back side of the lid.

Paragon Corvette Reproductions (800-882-4688) offers a restoration service to re-chrome and/or re-screen lids.  I intend to call them to ask if the white silk screening is available.

Has anyone use another source for the silk screening?

Thanks!

I realize it's an older topic, but still it's not 100% clear to me.

The guy with the barn find Z/28 only has 8,000 miles on it.  It's hard to believe this car had it's air cleaner lid changed in the first 8,000 miles.

Here is a pic of his:

My 69Z had the same owner since 1974.  The former owner did very little on the car except let it rust.  Jerry M certified it as being in original survivor condition in need of restoration.  It has approx 60,000 miles on it.

Here are two pics of mine:

I would really hate to have it restored with the curved silkscreen and different text if that is not correct.  I wish I could be 100% certain of how it should be.

I have 2 original black lids one from a late 69 z and the other off a big block 70 chevelle built Oct 69 no silk screening.

Looking at the 2 black lids on my 67 L35's they both have the curved white lettering and format as shown in the example posted by USER-3965175.
Just a guess but is this a late run Z that has changes for the soon to be 70 model year lid?

The barn find survivor is a Van Nuys First week of May 1969 Z/28.

Mine is a Norwood Second week of January 1969 Z/28.

The only other 2 possibilities is the original lid was rusting and the owners replaced them with what was the current lid or the factory started to phase in the second type earlier than1970 as suggested in this group. I suspect the latter is more possible.

If you can't find anyone selling the letters, you might want to ask Paragon about putting them on for you.
