Or you could do what I said earlier and tweek the bracket in the same direction that would make it just like shortening the actuator shaft.

As Charley suggested, in the past I've tweeked the bracket to get the door to close the last 1/4 inch.

Try switching the actuators side to side and see what happens. Also you might see if the inner door is rite up against the bumper, I had a Z28 a while ago I had to trim down the bumper.

Before I took the car apart to paint it both doors shut perfectly. I hate to tweak an original part to make the door fit....at this point anyway. But may end up doing just that.

have you tried loosening all the relevant fasteners.. making sure it opens/closes easily, then carefully snugging them back ??

The part to tweak is the cross bar that the rear of actuator attaches to, right?

Did you ever figure out the problem? I am experiencing a similar problem. The actuator bottoms out before the door hits the rubber stop, leaving a gap on the outer edge of the opening in the grille. Any advice would be appreciated.

No I have not figured it out. I did "tweak" the bar Charley was referring to and did not seem like it helped. Maybe I was tweaking the wrong part. I don't have the car home at the moment. It is at the shop and I have been working on other cars. Let me know if you fix your problem John.
