Early 68 Los RS TT
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:06:18 PM »
Getting ready to pick up a original owner R/S (L-30, PG, 749 Int. Y-2 pnt. A/C) I have known this car since '77 but have not seen it in 25 years. The only pictures I have are general but not percise. It seems to be 08E, followed by 102 B (or  I 129)  scheduel, LOS 01055  body number, Has "astro" script windows, black ash tray, also a odd drivers side mirror. I do not have the VIN #.
When did Los Angeles start 68 production? I always thought production stsrted in September.

The automotive industry typically used (and generally still does) a model year that is offset from the calendar year. Sales dates for a car model typically start in September of the prior year and end the following August. Production start/stop dates are generally a month before the sales start/stop dates.

Car is in hand.
It is a August build (08E)  The sch # is l128.  body 01055 Vin # 124378L301025 It seems the motor went somewhere at some point as the stamp reads V0607GT.  Would this car been built on the first or second day of production?

Production back then was a ramp-up. That's about the 10th day.
