Has anybody ever seen a 67 Camaro bumper guard without the rubber strip on it?

I have a set that doesn't appear to be modified in any way. The inside surface where the rubber should be located is smooth and has not been modified. The appear to be original GM. The shape and contour all appear the same as a 67 Camaro.

But the outside surface where the rubber goes is smooth and chromed. No holes or recess for the rubber.

Any ideas?   Huh

Yes. VERY early 1967 bumper guards were like that.

I sold my car a few weeks ago (67 RS w/327) and was cleaning out the garage. I was going to list these on eBay but couldn't figure out exactly what they were.

Any thoughts on value?

May get back into the hobby after I retire. Undecided

Yep, that's them. They're VERY rare, and were only used for the first few weeks of production, so someone with a very early car would want them.

A guy needs to pick his hobbies. My son and I started racing dirt bikes. Something I haven't done since I was a kid. Hoping to be able to race/ride till I retire. (If I don't get too hurt) Its amazing how much garage time and money keeping two dirt bikes in working order requires. Add to that travel expenses and you have to pick one. The Camaro just wasn't getting the attention that it deserved. I had done a lot of work to it and it needed some major (paint) things to take it to the next level. It was nothing special from a rarity/desirability stand point. Just a RS w/327, 210 hp, 2 speed powerglide, deluxe interior. But it was all original. I was hoping to get back into it when I have time after I retire. I'm just not a golf kind of guy.

I was asking over on the Camaro.net website. Never spent a lot of time on this web site but thought someone here might know (THANKS ED!!!).

It was driving me nuts not knowing what they were...

I don't know your age, but I can tell you that ANY motorcycle accident once you get 60 or so HURTS a LOT...  Wink

I'm 48. Still have a few more years left. It is taking longer and longer to get up off the ground.

My son and I race Hare Scrambles so, as a general rule I'm not flying 30 feet in the air. It's a great way to spend a day with a teenager.


How would someone find a potential buyer for these things. I would love to see them go on a car that would have originally had them from the factory.

Not necessarily looking to be able to retire off the sale but any guess as to a fair and reasonable price? I would like them to find a good home.

Do you have the build date from the trim tag and vin? That might help determine if they belonged on the car you sold.

As to the value... there is probably a small market for them, which may not help bring the value up. Either someone with a very early car (how many of the first few weeks of production are around and had that option?) and a parts collector.

The VIN number from the car I sold was:

124377N248122

Don't have any trim tag info.

I think I remember looking it up a few years ago and there wasn't anything special about the build date.

I'd put them on ebay to sell as you will have the best chance of obtaining a great market price. Agree about a neat way to having quality time with a teenager. Congrats to you (and the son) as the memories will be everylasting for both of you!

Your vin indicates that the car was built much later than realistic for the bumper guards to be factory installed. They are very unique though and more valuable than the more common ones. Those typically go for $150 and up. So with the rarity of yours, I wouldn't be surprised if they are worth more than three times that. But again, you have to find the person that needs them; to that person, they may be priceless.

And I agree with Chick, make all the memories you can with your son; you can not put a price on that!

Anyone have an idea how I could find someone that could use these?

I would really prefer to see them go on a correct car.

I'm not sure what the rules are for this forum. I would like to create a post for these looking for someone with the "correct" car. I know some forums don't like "for sale" posts in there regular forums. However, this is as much of a search for the right car (if not more) as it is a "for sale".


Any thoughts?

Team Camaro has a forum classifides section on their website at www.camaros.net  It is about half way down the page under the red banner Team Camaro. I have a '67, but it was built first week of March, so my car doesn't quallify. Hope someone gets them that has a early production car. I, like you would hate to see them installed on just any car.
