Heat Rise tube
« on: August 05, 2010, 04:33:35 AM »
 Hi Everyone

I am still looking for a L48 Heat Riser Tube for my  69 SS. Checked all the parts houses, ebay and craigslist. Checked the auto swapmeets too. Anyone out there got one or know of somebody that has one? Any leads would help. What is the part number for this item. Also on another note what is the PPG # for the black Z28 hood and rear deck stripes? Thanks

The example pictured is correct for a 69. There will be no part numbers present on the parts for most heat riser assemblies.

Yes 68Z22 that is the elusive heat riser tube that I am searching for. I did not know there was not a part # for it. I believe it is a universal part for all L48 cars and trucks. Still very hard to locate, probably a lot were tossed and replaced with after market chrome open filters. Do you know where I can purchase one?

I did not know there was not a part # for it.

There's a part number for it (3942531), but it doesn't appear on the part.

I called part dealers until I found one. You will need photos of it with basic dimensions to share with them because the part number Is not on it. It is best if there is a ruler in the pictures. By about the 100th call I found one.

Mine was actually at a dealer of full size chevy car parts. Because none have numbers on them they get mixed up and confused with the wrong models often. It was in a box of a few dozen impala heat tubes, if not for the photos, the dealer never would have known he had it. It was new NOS GM. I paid $75 last year for a 1968 heat tube. Tough to find but that is the best advice I can give you in locating one.
