Engine block decode

I am looking at buying a rebuilt 350 for my 69. The block has been decked and missing the suffix code...bu tthe block number on the back of the block is 3982888. Any ideas where it came from?

Are you sure it is not 3932386 or 3932388? Can you get at the numbers and possibliy clean them up? Might have grime around one or possibly two of the 8's which could be a 3 or a 6.
