Good evening. I am the proud new owner of the Camaro that was discussed here before. I know the history of the car or at least what has been written here and know the data plate has been swapped and the engine restamped to make it look like a real 396 numbers matching car. I know that it is not and that it was originally a RS 327 car. The guy that I got it from eriktampabay that discussed it here on this forum before never tried to represent it as a real 396 car. He was very honest and told that the engine was restamped and the data plate was fake. I am ok with the fact that it is not original but not ok with the fake data plate. I will have a reproduction made of the original one and put it on the car.
Car is on a truck now, heading to my home in Georgia. I am very excited to get it and plan to drive it and do the local shows. I am sure it will need a few things and I am also sure that I will have questions. This is my 3rd RS/SS 396 Camaro with my first being a 67 that I owned in 1975.
Thanks for all the info from the other thread. I have learned a lot already about my new car.
