Interesting. I just looked a 2 others that had never been touched & the both had the holes...Joe
FWIW in the 69 AIM it shows two part numbers for the grille under UPC CE1 - 3957044 for non SS and 3957062 for SS. For the standard/base grille under UPC 11/13 Sheet A5 it shows a part number of 3929990. In the GM Parts Wiki site I see a 73 revised supersession manual that indicates the 3929990 was replaced by/use instead part number 3957044. So the base/non- CE1 grille was later replaced by the one with CE1 provision/holes?
