General Discussion / 68 z/28 question of authenticity
« on: March 22, 2018, 02:10:43 AM »
A dealer is selling a 68 z/28 as authentic with a repaint and counter exchange 302.  He claims a Jerry Macneish is an official authenticator.  There is no build sheet, car has m22 4speed, rallysport option, tach and gauges with console.  Vin is 124378N383758.  Any input is appreciated. Dealer wants 45,000 car is in New Hampshire.

General Discussion / 67 Camaro SS 350 valve cover hold down tabs
« on: March 05, 2018, 11:46:33 PM »
I'm putting on the correct factory chrome valve covers and I want to find out was there a correct color for the hold down tabs and bolts? We're they plain, orange, black.  I can't find any information,  even restored engine pics I can't see good pics of the tabs under the bolts.

General Discussion / 67 disc brake pedal
« on: December 07, 2017, 12:50:00 AM »
I've looked on this site and only found one response,. Did the 67 Camaro disc brake cars have the round medallion on the pedal as factory or not? Was that a 68 Camaro first?

General Discussion / 12 bolt Camaro rear, casting date question
« on: July 23, 2017, 07:59:44 PM »
So I bought this 12 bolt rear cheap, and got home to check all numbers. Multi leaf spring mounts. Axle tube is code BL for a 68 3.07 open rear.  Ring and pinion are dated 67 correct 3.07 ratio.  But the carrier casting number looks like January of 67.  Is it normal to be cast that far in advance before being built? Or am I reading the cast date wrong? Would it be letter I- 28- 7, meaning September 28 1967?

My car is 4 wheel drum brake, was manual brakes originally but has a 1969 power brake booster installed.  My car is factory AC car and does not have the brake valve on the frame with no signs it ever had it. I don't have the protecto plate, so I am curious if there's any obvious signs if the metallic brakes were optioned on my car?  All my brake drums are smooth. I've read all the information about the brakes on this site, I just didn't know any obvious signs.

General Discussion / 67 front stripe color and interior question
« on: March 25, 2017, 07:20:11 PM »
My car is not factory color, it's painted black with white front bumblebee stripe.  My factory colors are butternut yellow with black vinyl top and deluxe black interior. Currently with white stripe insert in the seats.  What color would the factory bumblebee stripe possibly have been and what color insert on factory seats could have been?  Is there a color correlation? The car is a true SS/RS 350.

I'm not arguing with the individual just curious on the numbers matching. The trim tag doesn't state 4 speed, but also doesn't state automatic. So is it possible to be numbers matching, without the tag stating 4 speed?

General Discussion / SS 350 grille emblem question
« on: February 01, 2017, 08:01:30 PM »
With a 01C date on my 67 CAMARO.  GM had a mid year grille emblem change from the SS350 to SS with the introduction of the 396, that I had read from this sites articles.  My question is would my SS 350 emblem be correct or should it be changed  to SS?  I do not know if the emblem is original to the car due to so many non original front end parts found.  Like both my front fenders were not drilled for the Rallysport lower chrome moldings on either fender.

General Discussion / 67 SS/RS, under dash wire question
« on: January 29, 2017, 01:45:27 AM »
So I'm under my dash and this heavily taped wire is there, so I unwrap it and it looks like a diode, or resistor in the shape of a round ball, soldered to a brown wire. It looks like it goes up to ignition switch and the other side pairs up to a blue wire in a plug that goes to the firewall. I don't have a clue and it's hard soldered in. Sorry for the size of pic my phone won't resize any smaller.

So I see Z87 option for lights, including trunk, hood, and courtesy including glovebox.  My car has S code for Z23 interior, which doesn't include the lights.  But my car has deluxe interior.  So I see U27 glovebox is included with custom interior.  So my question is since my car has deluxe interior with tag code  ST 67 12637, could my glovebox light have been removed?   I do not have any screw holes in trunk or hood for lights nor do I have courtesy lights on the floor.  My car does have sail panel and console lights.  Any input is appreciated.

General Discussion / 67 ss/rs with ac. Brake modulator on frame question
« on: December 12, 2016, 07:40:55 PM »
I'm new here, I recently purchased a 67 camaro ss/rs 350 4 speed car with factory ac and 12 bolt rear with round radius rod.  My car has a factory one piece brake line with no modulator on the frame.  But all I've read states my car should have it. It it a Norwood car 01c build date. Car is 4 wheel drum. Power brakes. Any input is appreciated.
