General Discussion / Interior door panels
« on: October 26, 2017, 10:10:18 PM »
I have a 1969 Camaro Pace Car Convertible and the orange door panels appear to be different. The fronts seem to be a solid orange vinyl door card and the rear seem to be a vinyl covered. Any one familiar with interior panels? Is this normal?

I have a 1969 Pace Car built in Norwood OH, 396 CID 325 HP. It was shipped to a dealer in St Leonard, PQ Canada per a General Motors of Canada Limited info sheet. It has 4 plugs in each exhaust manifold anyone explain why. It does not look like it had any emission equipment on it.

Thank You! Looks like a job for a real mechanic. Any idea where to order a replacement and whether it is cast or forged? I have looked at NPD pg 150 & 151, and I am not sure which to order for my 69 12 bolt.

That is it! What was holding it in place? How do I fix it? Does it require a disassembly of the differential or rear end? Great picture by the way. Are you suggesting a replacement of the whole yoke assembly or flange assembly? I have no problem dropping the drive shaft but is the yoke assembly removable without taking apart the rear end?

Thanks for the picture and advise.

Where my drive shaft enters the rear differential is what looks like a dust cover. Recently it has started to spin with the drive shaft making a ringing type noise. How do I stop it?? Does it require a rebuild of the rear end. Any exploded view would be helpful. Would that be the Flange Assembly I see in the NPD catalog pg 151????

I broke down and replaced actuators that fixed the problem. Thank goodness for the aims diagrams. I had a devil of a time getting the cotter pins in on the headlight doors. No room to hold pins and install cotter pin. I had to tape the pins in place than install cotter pins. Any secrets?
Thanks for all the help!

I have a 1969 Pace car and drive it all the time to cruises. I have put over a thousands miles on it in 6 months. It has a 4.1 rear end so 65 mph is comfortable on the xway. Like everyone says these cars were daily drivers so enjoy the ride. You will get all kinds of thumbs up and waves along the way. I would watch the weather and plan your route. Ok maybe take along some tools and make sure you have towing. I did get a flat one day and found out the jack did not work.
