Well that answers my question. Thank you! On a different note, where did you get this information? Is there a chart or anything that I could look at for future references?

Decoding/Numbers / Help! Engine pad numbers
« on: September 01, 2017, 04:20:57 PM »
Can someone please tell me what this engine is. The numbers on the left of the pad is 18U143390. On the right of the pad is T1229HM. The casting number is 3914660.

The reason I'm asking is the engine is from a guy that used to own my 68 camaro.  But he has had several muscle cats over the years. But what is peculiar to me is that my VIN is 339015. Everything I've looked up says this engine is for a 68 camaro but noNE of the examples have a "14" afterm the place of manufacture which is the " U "

Thanks in advance!

What would the "CT stamp" be? Is it in the same location as the vin would be?

Ah Good to know. I'll look as soon as I get home. Thank yall very much for the info! The car is 100% tore apart right now. I'm doing a complete resto. Since I have no plans of ever selling it and no good documentation on the car, I'm going to just build it the way I want it. Tic toc tac, center console with guages, ect. Any harm in doing this?

Well atleast it's the stronger of the two haha.

One more question. Since there is no VIN on the transmission, does that indicate anything? It doesn't appear to have been removed, just never stamped.

I know it is a 3.08. I took the diff cover off and got the tooth counts off of the ring gear. So this car has had a lot of parts changed it seems. Engine, trans, and rear end. Seems I have hit the ultimate road block haha.

Any more suggestions on places to look would be great! At this point I think I'm just going to build the car to what I want it to be.

I appreciate each of yalls input and advice.

My axle code is:     JB G113 24. It's not on the list that I've seen on this site before. None of those start with a "jb". That's what made me think it is not original to the car. Pics will come as soon as I have access to my computer after the holiday. I'm beginning to have my doubts about the car but that's ok. It's still my dream car haha.

Most of my pics are on my computer which I won't be near for a while. The car is completely stripped right now so I'll send what I have on my phone.

Yes the link is my car. It has a 10 bolt but again, no vin numbers on it or anything to prove it is original to the car. It does have multi leaf springs and riv nuts  in rear fenderwell. It does gave the "muncie hole" in the firewall. And you're right about assuming from an old picture, I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part that it is a SS.

Cook_dw,
I would gladly post the pics you've requested but from what I have read my transmission is a warranty replacement.  The numbers show it to be. Muncie M20 but a 69 model instead of a 68. Also there is no VIN stampings on it all. They don't appear to have been ground off, just never been stamped

Decoding/Numbers / Database?

Hi,
My name is Jesse. I recently bought my dream car which is a 68 camaro.  I'm new to this site as well as the camaro world. I've been reading and from what I've gathered there is a non-public database of which I may be able to find some info of my car? Or am I wrong?

I have pictures of the car from a long time ago with original paint and it shows to be a SS. But unfortunately it doesn't have the original engine to prove this. If this database exists, who do I contact to see if there is anything I can learn about my car?

VIN# is 124378N339015. I know it's a V8 car for sure but hoping for more info.

Thanks in advane.
