Restoration / Re: 1969 Z28 spare wheel

So you are saying this was an over the counter wheel Kurt? Did they utilize the same dates as found on the cars for service wheels or did they use another series of dates?

FWIW,

Here's a Day 1 takeoff spare that was reportedly removed from the trunk of a 69 Z/28 that got a mag wheel change when brand new. The originals went home with the owner and were secured away in the basement until I got this wheel earlier this year. It's a factory spare dated K-1-9-4-18 and in mint untouched original condition. Obviously it was grey and not painted like the other wheels off the car?

Numbers are stamped pretty deep on the 9D2 but they do appear to be correct fonts. It's a bargain at that price IMO, but suspect it'll climb much higher in the next 7 days.

Here's mine for comparison.

Mild Modifications / Re: Dz302 rod bolts

I have bought a couple sets of these from Skip White. Ebay listing with ARP 2000 7/16" bolts sold complete for $389 and rated for 700hp.

Great deal on what is a "really nice" set of rods.

Bought one for my 68 last week from Tamraz Parts Warehouse (eBay) and it included free delivery in the US. Arrived in great condition with no issues. Total cost was $117 plus $43 for the 3/8 pickup which came installed in the tank.

My DZ block was a 0421 but the previous casting # block. Must have mixed in on that day.

Yup...definitely from the transition period where blocks were switched over from 618 castings to 010 blocks. Here's a 618 block cast one day earlier and stamped V0418DZ. The 010 block above is the earliest date I have seen. I'll post the VIN if we can read it.

Yes it is D159. I am working to buy this block from the current owner and I am also checking on the VIN being determined.

Standard bore and in storage for 34 years.

Found another 010 block that appears to have been cast one day earlier than mine. Anyone seen an earlier 3070010 block than this?

Originality / Re: 1970 Camaro Canadian Delivered Owners Manual
« on: February 02, 2017, 05:56:29 AM »
Nope...that one is all french for the Quebec sold cars and has a blank rear cover. I sold my 70 Camaro last September but know the manual in the glove box was the same as the others you posted above. It's different than the US version and has that wood grain like cover..

How about the french version. I think this is from the back side of the Canadian booklet.

Garage Talk / Re: 69 302 on pump gas?
« on: January 28, 2017, 02:41:00 AM »
Looking forward to a 302 build here in the next few weeks and will have to see how this one reacts to pump gas?

The block will be freshly machined before reinstalling the 302 crank with a new set of 4340 competition series I-beam rods and a new set of forged slugs. This one's getting a Lunati .582" @ 254/262 solid roller cam so it should run like a nasty little thing. The best part is I'll then be waiting to take stock in a new set of Trick Flow 186 aluminum heads. They are a few months from being released and I'm pretty stoked to be in line for a set of these new 185cc aluminum castings. Heads flow 254/207 @ .600" and they accommodate a 1.500" spring required for newer solid roller cams. The engine will then be topped with an Edelbrock Tarantula intake and an AED 750 mechanical carb. I'll post a video of it running before I install it into the green car. Should make a fun little motor to rip around in.
