Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Paint colors on the Alan Green Camaro

Thanks for the pic. Yes, I have this one, but not as clear as this. Definitely a black surround. Number and circle, too.
Are those emblems "Chevrolet" and "Camaro"? Car currently has neither. Thanks!

Thanks, Jon...
I vaguely remember being told the green color as a custom AG mix, since the dealer had a body shop, it would have been easy.
Will check the many period photos I have (mostly b&w) for the black outline.
Thanks again

Trans-Am Camaros / Paint colors on the Alan Green Camaro
« on: November 20, 2017, 04:44:27 PM »
In the process of freshening up the Alan Green Camaro. Trying to correct a few details. Paint question:

The current notes list the colors as:

'87-'93 GM Pickup White
'67-'68 GM Hugger Green Metallic

I'm no GM guy, but don't think these are the colors used in 1967. While the '67 color chart lists "Ermine White" (which I believe is the original base color) I find no reference to the green. I'm somehow reminded that Alan Green Chevrolet may have used a 'special mix' green of their own concoction, as used on the Alan Green Cheetah. Can anyone confirm this, or point me in direction of correct color(s)? Thanks

For those in (or planning to be in) the area June 2-4, the "Tirebird" will take to the track at Sonoma Raceway, along with it's distant cousin, the 1964 Temeprt "Grey Ghost". Should be great stuff.

Unfortunately, they are silver-painted fiberglass, and lack the bumperettes.  Stay tuned, tho...

Believe Mr. Drissi is the proud, new owner of the ex-Chapparal '70 Camaro...

Thank you, yes, I've seen this as well but didn't know where/when though, so thanks.
Yes, I asked about the graphics. Walter repeatedly said that he and the guys were "just having fun". The font is "Old English". His wife was hollering in the background "Day-Glo Green" and "Signal Green". Walter said they used a spray can. I found it in Rustoleum. Yes, spray cans.
And am having the font re-done as well. Should end up fairly close. Thanks again.

Happy to report...just finished a very interesting phone conversation with...Walter Parkins. Though he may have lost his written history in a home fire, his memory is quite good, unearthing many subtle details about the car, and of his Trans Am racing exploits at large. Very colorful, and informative guy. We'll continue our chat soon. Still digesting it all.....awesome!!!

John and Robert,
Thank you both for the replies, info, and photo(s). Any chance Walter is still around?
I have only 1 photo of the car in period. Yes, the "77" was a unique font, if not a bit ugly. Afraid the white meatballs are here to stay. The photo I have shows that back of the rear spoiler was painted kelly green, probably not going with that either.
The hood is being replaced with a flathood. I'd like to remove the bracing as I suspect was done in the era. Any photo of this would be helpful.
Again, thanks!
Hoping for more to come.

I realize this is a Gen 1 forum, so forgive me if I'm intruding. It was the Trans Am heading that interests me.
I am currently preparing this Camaro for next season's vintage racing with the Historic Trans Am group. Admit I don't know too much about Camaros, and even less about Walter Parkins. If anyone has any information about Walter, his car, photos, or can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Brian

Looks like he doesn't race it much.  I've looked at some 2015 / 16 vintage races on You Tube and is a no-show most of the time.

I guess I wouldn't race it either after repairing it.  Betcha it wasn't cheap.  At least it still lives.

It most certainly lives, and continues to vintage race. It may not show up as often as the owner has several t/a cars from which to choose to race:

'68 Shelby notchback sedan
'69 Bud Moore Boss 302
'70 Bud Moore Boss 302
'70 AAR Cuda
'71 Javelin
