It appears that I have a mutt for a diff, so what would one pay for a nicely redone 69 date code 12 bolt pos , non # rearend ?

Well that appears to be a late 69 and 70 passenger car 12 bolt.
Is there a casting date in the webbing area at the edge of the center section? From the rear look at the upper drivers side. Might be something like H 10 9
Go to this link and scroll down for casting date location.

Look close at that stamped MC again. Could it be CMC ? With the first C spaced over a little?
Thanks Bryon
Jim check the casting number on the center section. And post a pic of the rear cover if you can.
Yes MC was used for some trucks/vans in the late 60s.
Not sure about 67 or 69 but yes for 68.

The format was used in the 70's. Probably a 10 bolt, right?
engine numbers any help decoding would be much appreciated
In order to find the correct application, you also need to supply the block casting number and the block casting date.

Looks like the small 6 cylinder manual trans with air conditioning code.
Assembled at the Tonawanda plant on November 11, 1966
Check it yourself here:

It's either a 65 396 325 or a 69 427 335.
Isn't it a black car? Can you post the cowl tag info or a pic?
Axle code is easy to check.
If it was a factory "396" car it should also have blacked out tail pan. Perhaps removing trunk lock, tail light lens or rear deck lid weather stripping could expose evidence of factory black paint. That's a good tell , I'll check it out !!
Hi Jim. Welcome to CRG. That's a sweet looking ride. Have you checked the factory stampings on the engine block? If partial VIN matches you got a for sure factory big block. And if they don't match at least you'll know exactly what engine you got there.
I have a Keith Chevrolet in my data base: Highway 2, Chester Montana.
