General Discussion / Re: Reverse Lights
« on: October 25, 2016, 03:27:42 AM »
Lower lock rod may be missing. Runs from the reverse lever on the trans to the swivel on the frame. When shifting to reverse it rotates the column, activating the switch.

With the lights on, grasp the lower collar on the column and give it a 1/4 turn or so. If the lights go out, it's missing the rod. Sometimes the upper rod is also missing.

Interesting, Thank You Very Much!! I will Check that out.
Jim

General Discussion / Reverse Lights
« on: October 24, 2016, 11:49:27 PM »
I noticed that the reverse lights on my recently purchased 69 rs/ss, did not work, did a little investigating, found the switch was unplugged, made the connection and the lights stay on all of the time, when the key is on, regardless of what gear the trans is in, why would my reverse lights stay on all of the time?

Thanks for Your Help!

General Discussion / 69 inner fender
« on: October 12, 2016, 01:23:20 AM »
I have purchased a nice used with patina finish original 69  RS washer bottle bracket, and the AIM I have shows a general location, on the right inner fender near the battery , But there are no holes or divots on my inner fender in the area shown in the AIM, my inners are not new , because there is a bit of previous life corrosion beneath the battery, maybe the inners have been replaced with used ones ? What is the discerning difference , if any between  RS inners and others?
Thank You
Jim

General Discussion / Re: correct NOS #
« on: October 06, 2016, 06:30:14 PM »
That's the one Jim. Used on all 1969 Camaros (and a bazillion other cars and trucks from 1963 to the early 1970's!)

So popular, it's STILL AVAILABLE FROM GM for around ten bucks!!

Ed

Wow Thanks Ed,  You Just saved me some money to spend on other Camaro stuff !!

Originality / Does anyone have this option ?
« on: September 23, 2016, 09:57:28 AM »
Was this a real factory option? How popular was it?

Does anyone have pictures of it mounted in their car?

General Discussion / 69 RS headlight washer
« on: September 18, 2016, 01:15:55 PM »
I would like to hook up and get the headlight washers working, looks like I only have the nozzles and maybe the correct wiper switch, looking for advice and a schematic of the system, to know exactly what I need.

There's a motor with the solenoid on ebay for $800 bucks, is that average $ ?

Thanks
Jim

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Rear Axle housing Decode Help
« on: September 16, 2016, 05:41:07 PM »
It appears that I have a mutt for a diff, so what would one pay for a nicely redone 69 date code 12 bolt pos , non # rearend ?

Honestly if it's a posi with a gear ratio that will work for you, I wouldn't worry about it. If it is functionally good for your needs, don't worry about the "numbers" at this point.

It is possible that it's a modified 1970 Impala rear, but without the casting date I don't think we can say for sure.

Price for a replacement will depend on what you want, but the engine and trans aren't original either - correct?

Engine is  not for certain , and at this point probably not trans either . So I do agree why bother , but we just love to tinker with these things , so I'm always looking for something to improve .
