File a claim with both Ebay and Paypal. I've been there before too, and both Ebay and Paypal stood behind me and refunded me.

I've actually seen this car in person. I'm by no means an authority, but I know the guy selling it (I went to buy a OE console from him for my 68, but it was for a 69). Anyway, seems like a really up front guy, but if anyone wants me to go check things out I'd be happy to try and set something up with him. I live in SLC, about 45 minutes south of where this is located. Thanks

Ok, thanks Ed. I'll stay on the lookout now that I know what I need specifically. Thanks for the input. Hope this helps someone else down the line.

And would this apply to balancers for the 350 CI, not just the Z/28 302? I found a multitude of 3896966 balancers but each one looks to be offset as described and not center with the Keyway. I did find one 7173 balancer, but the seller says it's for a 302, and it's the only one I could find with the timing line centered with the Keyway. Argh.....gonna be a tough part to locate I think.

That's what I was worried about, thank you for the notice. Any other info. on what I should look for in finding the right balancer, may a pic of the correct one, would be great. Thanks

I've read through all the posts, and online info, I can find and haven't really found a confirmed answer. I'm looking to get an original harmonic balancer for my 68 Camaro. I'm having rebuilt and install a 1968 350 CI to put into it. I've looked to try and decipher and find a correct harmonic balancer. I've narrowed the part number down to 3896966 (I think), but as I search that part number I see many variations. Can someone point me in the right direction of what I should be looking for to differentiate a 67/68 balancer from a 69 (as far as I can tell by what I've read they are different even with the same part number). There are a bunch for sale on Ebay, but some say they cover from 67 to 74, some say 69 to 74, some say 67/68 and I don't know enough about them to know for sure which one I should seek out. Thanks for any input.

All, I live in SLC as well and if you need me to go take a look I'd be happy to. I'm not an expert by any means, and 69s I know very little about, but I can walk it and check it out for you on the phone. Just PM me. Thanks

Hi, I live in Salt Lake City, and drive up to Layton almost every Sunday to work on my 68 Camaro. If you'd need me to go see the car and verify anything I'd be happy to try and set something up with the guy selling it. I'm by no means an expert on Camaros, I'm still one of those newbies, but if you need anything looked at closely I'd be happy to try and help. Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Plans for your camaro?
« on: January 11, 2018, 10:36:30 PM »
My main plans this winter is to get my car into a shop, still searching for a very reputable shop, to have my rear axle changed out from the 3.73 that's in there back to the stock ratio 3.31. My entire goal for my Camaro is to have a daily driver, I do some freeway driving, so this will help when paired up to my M20. It's been delayed a little bit, but have my sights set on hopefully getting it in at the end of the month, so if anyone in the Utah/SLC area knows of a great shop let me know. This summer I want to get my engine rebuilt and swapped out, have a line on an original 350 from a 67 Camaro, but holding out to see if I can find a 350 from a 68 (my original engine is long gone, but want a period correct motor to go back in it and get rid of the 350 truck motor that's in there).

I've heard the Just Dashes does restoration work on those types of items. I'm sending my dash pad there next month for my 68, from recommendations from people on the Forum.

Hi Steve,
Lucky you to have that one there laying around. That is the style I was looking for, but didn't realize as stated there were two different numbers for that dipstick. But yes, that was the style I was seeking. Congrats on having that! Hope you find the other one you have in your stockpile, sounds like gremlins got ahold of it.

General Discussion / 3923239 SB Dipstick
« on: January 02, 2018, 03:12:53 PM »
Hello,
Does anyone have a good source to find a repop of the correct gray tipped dipstick for a 68 Camaro 350 SB, #3923239? My car did not have the original engine when I bought it, but I have located a 68 350ci that has the correct MS code for my 4 speed car, just not numbers correct but I believe that to be long gone. Have been trying to source date code correct parts when I can for the engine rebuild to eventually happen, but this item seems to be pretty illusive. Been looking online for over a year with no luck on the selling sites, and as of now I haven't been able to find a reproduction version so wanted to know if anyone knew of a source, or am I just out of luck on this detail? Thank you for any help and Happy New Year to the Forum.
