Restoration / Re: 68 engine compartment detailing

Getting a 68 Camaro AIM is very handy and will address alot of the search for the hardware, and you can cross that with AMK products to find reproduction hardware. Or PM me and I can give you a contact of a gent that sells a lot of original hardware for Camaros, if that is what you are seeking. And hard to find clips as well. Welcome to the site BTW, I'm relatively new as well and everyone has been great and extremely helpful.

General Discussion / Re: Cragar SS Direct Bolt Lug Nuts

I received responses from a couple guys on Yenko, so thought I'd post here what I found out the lugs looked like I needed. Just for future reference. Thanks

General Discussion / Cragar SS Direct Bolt Lug Nuts
« on: May 03, 2019, 10:39:42 PM »
Hello,
I have a complete set of Cragar SS direct bolt 15" wheels (old school, dates are in the 70s) that I am going to mount on my 68 Camaro. What I am wondering is if someone has pics or knows what type of lug nuts I should use. On the Cragar site I couldn't find anything other than the acorn nuts recommended, but they have the sloped bevel and on my wheel they are flat where the lug nut would rest. I've searched the forum to no avail as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Headlamp adjuster screw
« on: March 06, 2019, 03:09:02 PM »
Here is a pic of a nos 67 adjuster I posted at SYC forum a while back. I don't know if this is assembly line or not.
Long story short, I purchased some repo adjusters for my 86 chevy truck and had a problem with the nuts breaking. Realized I had bought some NOS nuts for m 67 Camaro years ago.
Here is a pic w/ black vinyl nut.

Repop in white w/ longer phillips screw,

Thanks for the reference on the 67 adjuster screws. I'll now have an OEM set, thinking they were for 68, once I replace and get the correct screws installed. Thanks again for the input. Hope this helps someone else later on down the road.

Shane,

Here are a couple of pics of the adjusting screw from my 01D '68. I replaced the Nylon nut and replated the original screw.

Hope this helps.

Bob

Bob, that's exactly what I needed. Thank you very much.

General Discussion / Headlamp adjuster screw
« on: March 05, 2019, 11:55:58 PM »
I've searched through the forum and couldn't find many posts on this topic to get an answer. But I'm looking to find out what was the correct adjuster screw used for the 68 Camaro. I know the adjuster nuts were different between 67 and 68, but I've seen several variants of the adjuster screw from "original" buckets compared to the new kits. The part number for 67 was 5953005 and that was the entire assembly according to the AIM. For 68 and 69 the AIM specifies part number 3921445, but I see both the variation with just the phillips head and then the variation with the phillips head and nut head, and a larger flange. I've attached some pics to also show the differences I'm finding. So bottom line, I'd just like to know what the original adjuster screw looked like for 68, or if they changed throughout the year. My car is a 2nd week July, 1968 build date. Thanks

I would be interested to know the answer to this request as well, as I'm putting together a 1968 350 motor for my Camaro and was wondering the same thing on this fitting. Thanks

Vince, if you contact Rich over on Yenko (his profile name is Enoch) he finds and sells a ton of OE hardware for first gen Camaros. He may be able to answer your question while looking at a complete set for the application you are talking about. Great guy, been very helpful to me. If you order a set from him, if he has it, may take some time to get to you if he restores the set for you. Just FYI. Thanks

If you PM me, I can give you his phone number directly to call or text him too. Thanks

Restoration / Re: Parking Brake Frame Guide Bar Finish?
« on: January 16, 2019, 03:29:35 PM »
Here are the pics I promised. The frame guide bar looks to have a finish on it, not paint. But I cannot vouch for the authenticity of this piece as it's not off a "survivor" car. But looks a lot like the same finish that Mike was talking about. Thanks

Mike, thank you for all the detail on the pathway and hardware for the rear speaker. I couldn't find that detail anywhere I looked. This is extremely helpful, appreciate all the time and effort you put in to adding to this topic. Much appreciated, answered every question I had.

Originality / Re: 68 Coupe Auxillary (rear) Speaker U80

I'll take the right sill plate molding off to look under and see if anything is securing the wire. The speaker wire you have has the connector on the radio side?

Mike

Mike, yes that is correct.

Mike,
Thank you for the reply. I am in the process of gathering the different hardware pieces to install mine as well. I've gotten the wire portion, and speakers and grille with bolts. So a detail of how they ran would be very helpful for me, and maybe some in the future. I've seen many posts with others asking this question, but no answer. But also, what the different wire holding clips looked like (i.e. the ones that were used for the wire on the passenger side floor and the ones that are used in the truck for carrying the wire). I've seen so many different repop versions I don't know which is even close. Thanks so much.

Shane

Hey everyone, sorry to repost such an old post but when I typed in my search words this was the only one that came up. I was looking for pictures of the wiring route, and especially the types of clips used, for running the rear speaker set up. I am going to install rear speaker in my 68, but wanted to try and duplicate as close as possible what it looked like on original rear speaker cars. Any help with info and pics appreciated. Or if this has been discussed already, a link to the forum topic. Thanks

I'll check this weekend when I'm up working on my car, and try to get a closer pic for the thread.
