General Discussion / Re: Pitting on intake

Thanks everyone, that's what I'll do. I did read that post on the hot-slots and the plugs, got some on order as I type this. I'll look for some sealer to fill in the pits, just wasn't sure if that was possible. I'm glad then I can keep to the originality of the car. Thanks

General Discussion / Pitting on intake

Can someone give me their input/expertise on this manifold. It's correct for my Camaro and I have the correct carb for it as well (I'm goin to put a date correct 350 in it), but as I'm not a very experienced mechanic, is the pitting on the manifold going be an issue where the carb and water neck mount? And if so, can it be fixed? Or will I need to find another intake? I know that there is a fix to plug the two extra holes, I'll do that, with either brass plugs or a 3 gasket set up I saw online. I'm just wondering if it's worth the effort given the pitting that is present. Thanks

Ah, Ok Russ. Thanks, much appreciated. I'll give that a try and see if that rod works, and report back, just in case somewhere down the road someone else runs into this.

That part number is the actual intake I have. Funny your catalog says the rod for that part number.

Question regarding chokes, and I thought I'd seen a string on this before but I can't relocate it. I have a stock Quadrajet carb for my car, 7028213, and I also have a NOS choke kit for that carburetor. I had purchased a Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet intake for rebuilding a 350 to put in my car. When I mount the carb onto the intake, the NOS kit won't work/reach from the platform on the intake to the linkage on the carb for the choke. I then purchased the choke kit from Edelbrock (1931) and the choke rod won't work/reach.
Has anyone ran into this, options of another kit or rod to use? I'd like to stay with the NOS kit and keep it looking as original as possible, but not sure that's gonna work. Any help or input greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks guys for all the input and help. I'll continue to use the AIM and when I can't find what I need I'll continue to poke around in the forum. If I can't find what I am seeking I'll throw out a message, I guess that's all good because somewhere down the line someone else might have the same question and can then find the answer. Much appreciated, everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

Wow Tim, thanks for that perfect info. I guess that's the kind of info. I was looking to be able to find myself. But at $300+ per book, I'll post here and be selective as to not drive y'all crazy. Many thanks and I'll use that parts wiki as much as I can as well.

Well, for instance. I'd like to be searching for a Tri-bar steering wheel for my Camaro. Old picture of it showed that's what came on the car, now long gone and replaced with an aftermarket steering wheel. Can't really pin down the right part number to search for in a 1968 Camaro for the correct wheel, lots of numbers out there for assorted models of cars that used that Tri-bar wheel. And just didn't want to clutter up the forum with every little part # need request as I search for the correct replacements. I try and find forum posts from before, but don't find part #'s all the time.
I saw this on ebay, looks very detailed with part #'s and exploded views, but the price is killer.

Could someone point me in the right direction as a source for a parts number book for first gen Camaros? I have the AIMs for all the years and they give some information, but on some areas not a detailed breakdown. I read posts where others reference very detailed info. on parts and availability for certain year cars and I'd like to find a resource like that as well. I see different CDs on ebay, but just not sure what is the right/best source. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much and happy Turkey Day.

Great find. I've been looking just a short while, got my NCRS report and found my car came from Ted Green Chevrolet in Cali. I've tried contacting twice with no reply. Anyone ever had any luck finding further documentation for their car in regards to that dealership? Thanks

General Discussion / 68 Washer Pump
« on: October 31, 2017, 04:55:09 PM »
Hey guys, I searched through different posts and couldn't find an answer. On my 68, the rubber plunger inside the washer pump has a big hole in it so it won't spray. Gotta fix this to pass safety on my car...ugh. Anyway, I've looked and found two options, but not an expert on which part would fit my 68, since that pump is different than other years and I'd like to keep it original instead of replacing with a new washer pump. Is there someone who rebuilds these that anyone knows of, or do it myself? If I do it, does anyone know of a place to buy a replacement part? The only one I could find was on ebay: part # 4918445 (I don't have a parts catalog to tell me if this will work, and the AIM only lists the entire unit). Or should I buy a used one, there is one on ebay, and scavenge the parts off of it I need? Thoughts and input greatly appreciated. Thank you

General Discussion / Horn Restoration

Does anyone know of a company that I can contact about repairing/rebuilding/restoring my set of horns that came off my car? I'd like to keep the date code correct ones to the car instead of buying repo. I searched through the forum, but didn't find any posts on this topic. One is bent up pretty bad and will need some work to reshape (if that is even possible). Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks
