I went with Hurst Driveline Conversions.  I guess what I liked was the completeness of the kit and a nice menu layout to check or uncheck items that you don't need or want.

I just bought the Browell bellhousing alignment tool for the TKO600 swap I'm doing in the 69 Z and look what they supply for instructions with the tool:

It's 3 pages straight from a CRG Research Report on bellhousing alignment!  They probably figured why reinvent the wheel when it's already done.  And probably in more detail than they would have provided on their own!

I don't think you will ever see such a collection of 1967 Z/28's anywhere except at MCACN!  Along with lots of other neat cars; the Fabulous Formulas, a RA-V GTO Judge, original owner ZL1 Camaro, and many, many other unique and neat cars!

That was my first MCACN but it won't be my last!

Very nice compilation video!  I bookmarked that one for sure.

Of course it also has the usual Yenko/COPO experts and their typical incorrect comments. :)

Yes, I remember that from the early car mag roll out of new for 69 GM products.

I can understand the potential confusion since half the cars on ebay are incorrect. :)

The missing clocks with U17, the unpainted grill surround, and incorrect striping are running rampant these days!

Originality / Re: 69 Z/28 Water Pump Pulley Real or Repro
« on: September 26, 2017, 02:08:11 PM »
Thanks for the pictures!  They show some great details.
Hans' and Len's pics both show the flat top 3.
Len's 2nd and 3rd pic each show one of the perimeter spot welds.
Len's 1st and last pic each show what looks like 4 protrusions on the edge of the inner cup.

So I guess my observations from the pics are:

Flat top 3's,   4 protrusions 90 degrees apart on the back edge of the inner support cup,  and the perimeter spot welds attaching the inner cup to the pulley.

So those features may be a good way to ID an original pulley, unless someone comes up with something different on known originals.  Of course, there may be different features based on potential multiple suppliers, or changes over time.

Thanks for the feedback!  Unfortunately I didn't pay repop price for this.  :(

Hopefully I can return it.

I found other threads about this but no overall guidelines about real vs. repopped pulleys.
I wanted to get you guys opinion on this pulley:

I thought the font looked good but I'm questioning the welds that retain the inner support.  I have noticed on crank pulleys that the welds on repops are on the flat face (like above), but on originals they seem to be on the side around the circumference of the mounting flange.  Is that correct and does that also apply to water pump pulleys?

Any feedback appreciated!

You were right Ed.  It didn't take long.

Great to get those pictures!  She doesn't look the type to be rowing the gears on a Z28, but kudos to her for enjoying a car like that. 8)

First pic looks like header mufflers as the only exhaust.  I used to roll that way with mine in the 70's.  A high comp, solid lifter engine sounds really good like that.

Originality / Re: ZL2 Hood Grommet

Hmm, this looks like a perfect item for me to protoype a correct molding.  I wonder what the demand would be?  But at $8 a re-pop, it would be tough to recoup my time put in. I have not done a molding project since I did the RS washer valve plastic part. :)

Do it!  I'll be first in line for it!  With everyone striving for accuracy I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed.

Here's the repopped grommet that everybody carries:

It is nothing like the original grommet that came with this hood back in the day:

There seems to be very little information or pictures of the original style grommet.   Just wondering why the grommet was reproduced so inaccurately??
