The Assembly Information Manual has special notation at the lower right of some pages of "DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED". It is just above the revision record box. A number of pages show it was later removed. I noted the M20 pages on the 1969 manual have several marked. Is this something to do with an outside sourced part like a Hurst shifter or similar? C60 pages have some notation about this- Curiosity about what this references?? Recording number of times installed??

General Discussion / 68-69 Rear Armrest Ashtray design

Is there any information on the rear armrest ashtray lid designs? I understand the 67 version is a larger size. The 68-69 is the same but smaller size. My confusion is with the 68-69 ribbed vs. smooth design. Seems to me I heard a long time back that the originals came as a 3-ribbed design?? Possibly the smooth top was a reproduction and possibly a GM replacement sold at the dealer? Really not much information on these and I suspect there is a lot of misinformation out there on these--

General Discussion / Fold Down Rear Seat Panels

I have never been very clear on how the rear panels were handled on the fold down seat coupe applications. I realize they used the added on arm rests common to the convertible.
 I am unclear how the side panels were handled though. Were the quarter side panels full height and the arm rests put over them, or were they a foreshortened panel that was a different part? Or perhaps a cut off full panel?? Any difference deluxe vs standard interiors?

Originality / Speedometer cable marking for m20/21/22 cables?

The Assembly Information Manuals reference a "color identification mark" on the cable housing that is supposed to be aligned with the middle cable retention clip during installation. Is there any information on what this may have looked like?

General Discussion / Fisher Body Assembly Manual.. or similar possibilities?

Is there any assembly line guides, or manuals related to what happened behind the "Hole in the Wall" for how Fisher put things together on their end? Seems we would probably have some available if they exist. Also seems reasonable there must have been some guides for those who were on the Fisher side .There were a lot of mysteries on what happened during the body builds, and very little information on everything upstream on the build of the vehicles.

In the 1968 factory AIM on the RPO Options Index sheet (A1) it shows a note about RPO D88 being removed on 2 28 1968. RPO D88 was apparently  Z-28 striping. This raises the question-was it possible to order optional striping on other Camaros?

Originality / Muncie Transmission Assemblers

The Muncie transmissions have a number of unique stamp identifiers on the top rectangular boss at the rear of the top of the maincase. I have an understanding this is possibly an assemblers/inspectors stamp when originally put together?? Has anyone compiled a list of the different ones? I have seen a square with diagonal line and a diamond. I think there are many others as well. Is this stamp attributable to a single assembler/inspector?
There also seems to be a single letter stamped near the countershaft hole on the case fronts-any ideas on these?

Originality / Muncie Shifter running production changes

Does anyone have any ideas on what the assembly lines were up to with the shift rod "Spacer" additions on some of the shift rods? The Muncie 4 speed started putting a washer on the rear side of the swivel on the 3-4 rod and it looks like the Saginaw 4 speed may have had one added to the 1-2 rod. The 3 speed shows one on the 2-3 rod. It is interesting that they carried this over to 1969 production on the base 3 and 4 speed transmissions that had Muncie shifters also. There is no indication this was done on any 67 production.
What in the world were they up to with this???

Does anyone know the years of use that Chevrolet utilized the Chevrolet bowtie with the short bars above and below the "CHEVROLET" name? I have seen indications that is was started early in the 1960's and probably stopped in the early 1970's What emblem/moniker replaced it, and when did Chevrolet cease using it?

General Discussion / First production of Los Angeles 1967 Z-28 Models

I understand that there was some delay in the production of the Z-28 model at the Los Angeles plant for the 67 model. This may have been a factor in the "conversion" done on the Dana Chevrolet/Guldstrand Trans Am car that was first raced in St. Jovite. The first run of Z-28 models was done at Norwood starting on Dec 29, 1966 as I understand. Is there any indication when the first production happened at the Van Nuys plant?

Don't know if anyone is aware of this but there is some great scrapbook history on the Muncie transmission factory in Indiana. Wish that something like this was available on Van Nuys and Norwood assembly lines!
