I thought it would be easier to tune the main metering, accelerator pump
and power circuits if the secondaries were not functioning.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve sprayed starting fluid around carburetor and intake, no change in rpm.
I’ve adjusted idle mixture for maximum vacuum of 17hg at 950 rpm.
Accelerator pump is working as it should, tried squirters from 25 to 40, has no effect on stall.
Currently using a 31 squirter. I did notice something I thought was odd, holding engine speed at 3000 rpm fuel is just starting to drip from the main boosters. Shouldn’t the main metering circuit be fully engaged at a lower rpm. I believe it’s still pulling fuel from the transfer slots?

Mild 305 engine. Performer intake, headers, mild camshaft, Holley 600 vac secondaries,
TH 400 transmission.Overall it runs good. The problem I’m having is going from
idle to wot and back to idle as quickly as possible in gear the engine stalls. I’m
Completely stumped. Any advice much appreciated. Forgot to mention the secondaries
are wired closed, only front half of carburetor is functioning.

Not sure if it makes any difference but John Z has said that the closest to original metric tire size is 215/65-15.

Great car.

I have the same issue with my rear brakes - the drum punchouts have not been removed. Can you get your rear drums off? I think I'm going to have to knock mine out to get them off (unless someone knows a trick).

Note the C removed from the axle code. That's not chance....

I have used two flathead screwdrivers inserted thru slot in back plate. One to push the adjusting lever away from adjusting screw, and the other screwdriver to turn the adjusting
screw until the drum will slip off.

Did the factory make any Camaros with N66 wheels and ZL2 hood on same car?

One way to tell it’s an ‘81 is lack of a covey hole in console below the radio. Starting in ‘81 the computer was installed in this space.

Since the factory transmission is long gone I would think a mc1 Muncie 3 speed would be a better replacement. It is much more rare than the m20. Not more desirable though.
