General Discussion / Hult Chevrolet - Madison Wisconsin
« on: October 21, 2015, 11:31:26 PM »
I bought a 1969 Chevrolet dealer sales album on Ebay, arrived today. It has Hult Chevrolet stamped on all of the Chevy intro pages and Eldred Sprecher's business card in it. Pretty cool because it has actual fabric pieces etc with all the sales stuff.

Anyway, I don't plan to sell it but if someone on here says that's their dealership and wants it I didn't pay much. I didn't know it had dealership info in it, I just think its cool to reunite this kind of history.

If anyone wants to see pages from the album, let me know.

Originality / firewall chalk - how did this look originally
« on: October 16, 2015, 04:25:03 PM »
How does this look original, any examples? Is this a crayon and is it pre-paint? Or was this post-paint and someone has just rubbed it clean? I don't know what to think about this. Actually it took me all these years to figure out it said "RED". Duh.

General Discussion / 1969 rear antenna and spoiler - here's the rub...
« on: October 16, 2015, 12:57:32 AM »
I believe that my Nov 68 build SS350 was originally spoilerless. It has a spoiler now, and not the short one that would be found on an early build 69, so this is an obvious non-original addition. But I read in a prior post that the trunk lid would not stay open on an original spoilerless car when a spoiler was added, so it made me look closer at the torsion rods. They appear the same which supports spoilerless, but my lid does stay open. Agree this lid should not have a short spoiler? Honestly I've never climbed in a survivor trunk, so I don't know what I'm looking at.

So on to the real question, the fun details. I'm certain this is an original rear antenna car, and my non-original wide spoiler rubs it when I open the lid. Do any members have a late 69 (original wide spoiler) with rear antenna that rubs? Just my curiosity.

Originality / spark plug wire retainers
« on: October 03, 2015, 04:57:16 PM »
A few questions please
1. Were the spark plug wire retainers natural, then dipped in rubber?
2. Are the valve cover hold-downs (whats this called?) and bolts painted with the covers (orange for L48) or natural?
3. I have a picture of my passenger side retainer, can anyone show me a pic of the driver side I'm missing, installed and painted correctly as original?

Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / XT wheels date codes?
« on: October 03, 2015, 04:15:40 PM »
In my search I came across a pair of XT wheels in PA, but the pictures I asked for are fuzzy.  >:( Has anyone seen any fakes of the XT wheel?

For an early Nov 68 build, what should I see around the stem? would m = "1" and what if I don't see anything for m stamped? I can't tell if its the crappy pics or if there is something there. He said they were in storage, so he went today to take the pics. But now I had to tell him I couldn't read the stamps.

Opinions please.

K1y m (hole) dd aa

 where:
    K = Kelsey-Hayes
    1 = Romulus, MI wheel plant
    y = calendar year
    m = month
   dd = day
   aa = application code

Originality / 1967 steel wheels (red if it matters) craigslist
« on: October 02, 2015, 02:05:08 PM »
In my search for 1969 steel wheels, i found these 1967 on craigslist. I called, he still has them, said they were off his original 67 convertible. Didn't know the stamp. Thought someone might be interested.

General Discussion / Dealer memorabilia - what do you have?
« on: October 01, 2015, 11:13:20 PM »
I got this on ebay $2, arrived today. This dealership where my camaro was purchased went out of business long ago. I think this is late 70's based on the chevy slogan. A little rubber mirror pouch, for my wife when she complains about her hair with the windows down. I'll keep it in the glovebox, matches the red paint.

Originality / Fuel Vapor line SS350
« on: October 01, 2015, 02:48:59 PM »
I see a fuel and vapor hose kit for sale at Ricks, but I think I might be missing a metal line between the fuel filter and the vapor line. Pics of what I have are attached. I have an NOS fuel filter to install, but my vapor hose is cut. I would like to fix this, but I don't know what its supposed to look like and where can I get the best reproduction parts? (I would buy used or nos, but I assume both are going to be impossible to find.)

As always...Thanks!

General Discussion / 1969 Air Shocks
« on: October 01, 2015, 12:43:09 AM »
I'm assuming this was for an air shock system. Does anyone know what the "period correct" air shock system would be for a 69 SS350? Pics if they are helpful.

Originality / Deluxe interior trunk mat part numbers?
« on: September 25, 2015, 02:08:29 PM »
I don't see the trunk mat in the 1969 AIM for deluxe interior Z87. I have a trunk mat I bought maybe 10 years ago that I thought was NOS, but obviously I don't know for sure what's NOS. An ebay auction started today for an NOS mat, different numbers than mine. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Up for sale I have a 1969 Camaro NEW " NOS " RARE Factory Fit Rubber Trunk Mat. My research tells me that this trunk mat came only in the 1969 Camaro's that had Deluxe Interiors. It is a RUBBER mat with a Green & Black Houndstooth pattern, it is NOT vinyl like the Reproductions. The GM# 87102202A is printed on the back, as seen in the pictures.

Restoration / Master Cylinder

Does anyone have a suggestion on where to send a master cylinder rebuild? I found whitepost restorations on an earlier thread, are these the go-to folks?

Originality / 1969 Camaro dealer accessories - tachometer
« on: September 23, 2015, 04:34:18 PM »
When I bought this camaro, the first thing I did was rip out the junky aftermarket tach screwed into the dash panel and the wiring, and threw it in the trash - 15 years ago. As I started purchasing parts to restore, I find it on the 1969 custom features and accessories merchandising booklet.

So now I bought two of these so far on ebay, one with the bowtie and one with GM stamped on the top. Same wiring and very similar except the GM has a slightly blue upper lid. The bowtie one is all black and more shiny casing, and it matches the picture in the 1969 Nova and Camaro accessories book.

Does anyone have this bowtie tach installed, or know where I can find installation instructions? And any ideas which model car the GM stamped tach would be for, so I can get it to the correct car restoration?

Thanks - Andy

Originality / 1969 SS350 Air Cleaner and Filter
« on: September 23, 2015, 02:07:06 PM »
I recently bought a "reconditioned original" air cleaner on ebay. I think it looks pretty close if its not actually original for a 350 4speed. I do welcome anyone telling me its not correct, that's ok and I do want to know. My question is on the A348C filter. The air cleaner came with an A348C filter with diamond mesh, but I see others with square mesh. Is there a thread on this already, I couldn't find it?
And can someone tell the the correct height the air cleaner bolt should extend out of the carb? This looks too high, but I can't get it down any further. I rebuilt the carb a few years ago and lost my pictures before removal (phone got washed in the washing machine).

And an aside, this forum has really come a long way. When I bought this camaro maybe 15 years ago, I read everything in CRG and all the books I could find but I don't remember this forum. I can't even start to tell you how much fun it is reading all of the threads.

Thanks - Andy

General Discussion / SS hockey stripes 3957067
« on: September 22, 2015, 05:33:43 PM »
Are the reproductions as good as the originals, and can I get this anywhere? And if anyone is interested, I have a pair of DX1 black stripes 3957064 in the original GM boxes I would love to trade. I hate selling stuff. I've accumulated so much odd stuff over the years. I just pulled out an NOS trunk mat I had forgotten about  ;D

How much of this is real information vs bad memory, I need some help sorting through. It was great talking to the POP original owner, he had several stories some of which were relevant but all were fun. His father bought the car for him and his brother, they shared it in high school. Racing mustangs on "the bowling alley strip and running from the cops on 42 south" seemed to be his favorite. But our conversation left me with some curiosities, I took these notes.
1. He mentioned a high performance clutch that only held up for 6 weeks. He didn't remember if it was replaced or the new clutch was standard. Its a 4 speed M21, is there any way to figure out if it still has a high perf clutch?
2. He talked about finding oversized bearings on the left side of the engine? He felt like it was important.  ???
3. He said the car absolutely did not have smog equipment on this car. From what I read, all 1969 small blocks had smog equipment. Its the original engine, but the manifolds are unreadable.
4. He also said the GM dash tach was original, so this was a dealer option I guess. Of course that was the first thing I tossed in the trash before we talked.  :'(
5. Steel wheels - red color same as the body. When I bought the car it had silver rallys with the correctly dated. Oddly they have red paint under the silver (I can see red where the silver is chipped) and they are red on the back of the wheel too. I don't see steel wheels as an option for a Norwood car.  The car has been repainted red a few decades ago, would someone actually paint rallys red?
