General Discussion / E-Z-Eye quarter window glass
« on: January 28, 2016, 11:53:50 PM »
Craigslist ad had some original 69 camaro glass, so I called and asked for a picture of the etching. NV could either be Jan 69 or Jan 82. I could have been fooled with the date code NV if I didn't read this "Glass supplier tradenames, like "Duplate," "Solex," "E-Z-Eye," and "SunShade" do not appear on GM OEM glass. ".

General Discussion / disassembled 375 HP 396 from 69 camaro
« on: December 19, 2015, 02:03:03 PM »
I've heard of this local sale, her late husband was the original owner but kept the engine and disassembled it when he sold the car. I was told the car was subsequently totaled, also local but that doesn't mean its still laying in a nearby boneyard. Assume the car is gone. Engine had < 40k miles on it. I was told she has the original title for the car which I think is strange, I don't know if she has anything else.

I don't know much about the 396, but I wouldn't mind a new project. Any tips on what I should look for that would make the engine worth 4k disassembled? My wife will kill me if I bought another camaro.

Thanks - Andy

Originality / 69 350 water pump?
« on: December 18, 2015, 02:41:47 PM »
Does anyone recognize this water pump? I pulled this off my 11C early build 69 camaro, probably 10 years ago. When I saw the 6811 many years ago, I thought this was original but now I don't know what it is.

Thanks - Andy

Restoration / 69 Headlight brackets 3937541
« on: December 15, 2015, 04:53:04 PM »
Among my hoarded parts are a pair of NOS headlight brackets. Is this a date code Aug of 69?

Therefore not appropriate for my 11C 68 build. I will see my original brackets off the car today to see if they can hopefully be saved. Sometimes I wish GM didn't put a date stamp on everything. :)

Thanks - Andy

Delivered my car to the body shop on Friday. Wish me luck. Or maybe wish the paint shop luck with me.

Restoration / License plate fuel door
« on: November 25, 2015, 04:12:35 PM »
This is just strange. I bought a "#1 Team" license frame and intended to put all of the proper screws into the door, it has never had them and I've found what I think are the correct ones on EBAY. I've derusted my door and still plan to paint it, (I assume to be original). And the holes on my door don't match either the license plate nor the new frame I bought.

If my eyes are straight, it honestly appears that the upper left hole is stamped to far toward center. Has anyone else seen this on an original? I'm sure the license plate and frame are not wrong, they match each other.

Thanks - Andy

Restoration / Time for a paintjob
« on: November 18, 2015, 10:11:39 PM »
After driving around 15 years without emblems, stripes and chrome, I've decided to take this 69 SS350 into a local body and paint shop. All these years I've been hoarding NOS chrome and body parts, but never had the heart to put the stuff on top of bad paint.

I need new full quarters. I have one NOS quarter. I'm sure I shouldn't use one NOS and one reproduction, so I need some opinions please. I can sell the NOS or I can buy the other NOS to make a pair. If I sell the NOS, which repro is the best? I've read about as many forums as I can handle. I did follow some advice on another forum and contact BelairBob to buy AMD, but he had other repros as well. Does anyone have any strong opinions about NOS or repro quarters? I've also read that there are differences in the NOS quarters, depending on whether they were early or not with early stampings having more defined lines.

Also after my car is reassembled, I will have a ton of stuff that I can finally sell. (I have no idea why I have an NOS pair 68 inner fender wells that don't even fit a 69).

Thanks - Andy

Restoration / console 8track bumpers

Hi - I can't find a repro for the bumper in this picture. If anyone has this bumper, could I beg for some dimensions? Maybe I can buy something close.

Thanks - Andy

General Discussion / Chevrolet Sports Department - Jean-Claude Killy
« on: November 10, 2015, 03:00:30 PM »
I found this on Ebay last week. Its a trifold of original artist sketches during the period when Killy was promoting the Camaro. I'm not sure who owned this or why it was prepared in the trifold, but I thought it was cool.

General Discussion / L48/L65 crankcase vent hose - part 3942524
« on: October 29, 2015, 11:25:46 AM »
I've been struggling to find something to replace this hose for a few weeks. I've seen a few posts on here and some other forums about the correct part,  but no suggestion yet on a replacement until the used one pops up for sale somewhere. I'm getting a little desperate to be honest, I almost bought a mopar hose because it looked close on EBAY.  :o

In the 69 AIM, UPC L65 view A3 item 9 part number 3942524. The L65 hose and L48 crankcase vent hose are the same. I think its the same on the smaller blocks too, just not the 302.

I've called a few places. Steve's camaro responded that he couldn't dig anything up. Denny's is ignoring me now. I'll take any suggestions on who to call or where to look, or a different part hose to modify if it looks close for now. Attached are the pics I dug up so far including one from this forum.

Thanks - Andy

General Discussion / hood insulation and drain tubes
« on: October 26, 2015, 07:29:28 PM »
I'm installing the hood insulation, arrived today from Rick's. 1969 SS hood with louvers and drain tubes. On an original, were holes cut in the insulation for the drain tubes?

Also the insulation came with an info sheet that says to lightly spray with flat black paint to achieve an original appearance. Truth?

Thanks - Andy

Restoration / emission sticker reproduction
« on: October 22, 2015, 05:45:03 PM »
This reproduction isn't even close. Font is wrong, spacing is wrong, and its not even the correct size. As bad as the original is, I don't want to replace it with something that doesn't match. A sticker is so simple, how can they not make a correct reproduction? Arghh.

General Discussion / D90 stripe - dealer sales album
« on: October 21, 2015, 11:52:31 PM »
I put this in the General Discussion forum because a million posts came up when I searched D90 stripe. I can do the reading and I'm sure someone will give me a very short ruling on the stripe and fender extension. My SS already had a repaint with no stripes, so I'm planning to repaint correctly some day in the far future.

These pics are from the dealer album and I found this interesting to show the discrepancy in pics vs sales info in 1969. As I'm paging through the album, this stuff jumps out. Pics so the stripe onto the extension, drawings show the stripe stop at the extension.
