Sorry I can't figure out what C75 is on the 69 POP decoder in the e position of POP value 3. Its in the same postion as C60, so it would be either air conditioning or C75?
Thanks - I'm just curious. I have a 1133_ no value for e.

I was checking the codes again on my POP. Feels like I keep forgetting details. I have a P9R31 without a muncie suffix code. Very minor detail on the decoding page, but it states the suffix begins with 10/21/68 production.
And thank you for the fantastic amount of information available, I don't know what I woud do without having this resource.

Part number 3951207 shipped in a box with PC8S-536 stamped on the side. Clamshell style package RCA cartridge, Music of the USA Vol. II starring Lorne Greene. Assembly manual page 15 C2 Miscellaneous Shipping List for RPO U57. Made in 68 and provided only for the 69 model year.
Pictured, original package and an open example of the 8 track itself.

General Discussion / Z/28s and vinyl roof option

I miss this group, the amount of misinformation spread in the camaro forums on facebook drives me nuts. I just saw a poster state that he knew a Z/28 was not real because the car for sale had a vinyl top, and most Z/28s did not have vinyl. Is there any evidence to support this? Other than a weight conscious buyer that wants to spare those few lbs on the roof for performance?

I'll be visiting more often, for my sanity. Picture, finished project, unrelated to this post.

Decoding/Numbers / PoP decode of muncie

I haven't been here for awhile, but a discussion on FB brought me back to decode my PoP again on a different topic.

My PoP has a transmission code of P9R31, which is a muncie 4speed October 31 without the suffix. This is an incredibly small detail, but the comment in the decode says suffix began the week earlier.

       1969 Muncie 4-speed only:
          A = M20
          B = M21     Use of the Muncie type suffix
          C = M22     began with 21 Oct 68 production.

General Discussion / 1969 space saver spare hook mount location?

Was the location of the 69 coupe hook mount different between a standard spare and the space saver? I tried to replicate the instructions in the AIM, and its definitely not possible from where my hook mount exists. Does anyone have a picture of how the N65 is supposed to appear in a 69 coupe trunk? Is this why there were different trunk mats available for a camaro equipped with the space saver spare, because the cutout was in a different location?

I'm attaching a picture of my N65 displayed wrong Wrong WRONG. I imagine so few people will know its wrong, but now I know its wrong and it will bug me.

Another thing I noticed in the AIM, it shows the inflator canister nesting inside the wheel against the base. But maybe due to the canister retainer being too long, the canister doesn't nest inside the wheel. Anyone have an original retainer?

Felt like a teenager putting STP decals on my first car. The inspection sticker brings back memories of desperate days trying to pass those inspections. I'm not sure that I like the sports dept sticker there, but its better than sitting in an envelope in my collection of car junk. Anyway, I just felt like sharing some fun while the car relaxes for the cold spell. Merry Christmas CRG!

This was in my 69 camaro trunk with the j hook and wingnut when I bought the car. I've never seen any pictures showing this as original equipment nor in the AIM, so I'm looking for help. And while I have your attention, is this an original wingnut - It has the initials LO on the bottom. Thanks!

Maintenance / 69 camaro new front and rear springs - stance

This is just an informational post for whoever may be curious. SS350 with original powertrain and non-AC, a spacesaver tire in the trunk. I replaced the original front and rear 5-leaf springs and installed new Koni shocks. I was worried about the replacement springs because they are a generalized version of what was available as original equipment. Here is what I purchased, and a picture of the resulting stance.

1967-1969 Front Coil Springs SB w/o AC Premium Quality
1968 - 1969 Leaf Springs Set, Multi Leaf, Rear, 5 Leaf, Pair, USA
2 of : 1967 - 1969 Camaro Koni Red Front Shock, Each

I don't know if its appropriate on this forum to mention the vendor, so I will leave that out until told otherwise.

Maintenance / hesitation while driving

I need some ideas. My 69 SS350 with original engine, transmission and rear with approx 74k miles on it. While driving, there is a noticeable hesitation every few seconds when accelerating or allowing the engine to deccelerate while in gear - but "at pace" it doesn't seem to do it as much. The issue has been getting worse, and it does feel underpowered. It dramatically lunges at low speed.

My first thoughts may have bee way off base. I was thinking transmission, because I also had an oil leak that was minor until after a 18 month sit in a paint shop. Now the oil pan leak is much worse, so I was also thinking I had developed a rear main seal leak - which might have been letting oil pass to the transmission. Not knowing what the result of this could be, I just put these two things together.

But maybe this is a carb issue? I had it rebuilt, and I reinstalled it myself a few years ago. And the it sat on the car unused while there were other issues. It was off the engine during a freshening of the paint. So could this be a vacuum leak issue? Maybe as simple as a gas filter? I did install a new fuel pump that had been leaking, but then that fuel pump sat for the 18 months.

I have the car at a shop getting new springs front and rear. I asked them to look at this when fixing the oil pan. Too much of a mess underneath to decide if there is a rear main seal leak. The mechanic suggested it may be the carb, says he doesn't like rochesters and suggested replacing it with a holley?!?! or having the carb rebuilt. I don't think I need to have it rebuilt again, but it could have something to do with the removal at the paint shop. Original carb.

Where would ya'll start? Everything is original equipment, except the fuel pump which is a recent replacement. Its an original fuel filter. The only known issue I have is the gas tank was removed and now the seal on top of the gas tank leaks if I fill it past 3/4.

Restoration / 8track cover rebuild

I was very disappointed in the 8 track cover reproduction I bought, so I decided to have the old original restored.

Here's a picture of what it looks like with the vinyl removed.

I'll post another picture when its complete. They may need to rebuild it completely because the cushion is falling apart.

Garage Talk / Pigeon Forge Spring Rod Run

Anyone planning to go to the Rod Run this weekend?

I live just a bit south of Knoxville so I plan to drive my "promised to be finished" freshly painted 69 SS350. I'm pretty sure there won't be any place for me to park on the parkway by the time I arrive, but I'm going to drive it anyway. So if you see a garnet red SS350 with endura bumper cruising around, that's me.

Can I expect to see anyone from CRG there?

Restoration / 69 rear speaker install

I've added an 8 track player to my 69. I sent the original AM radio and an original 8 track player to be restored, and I asked for him to also restore and build the correct speaker wires for an original setup. I had also squirreled away a set of NOS rear speakers, since I needed them for the 8track player. I sent him everything except the rear speakers, of course...

So it seems my speakers may be service replacements, which have an odd connection which is different than the original speakers - and not like the speaker wiring that he built. Any suggestions on how to connect up these service replacement speakers, or where I can get speakers that are like the original style?
