Originality / Valve cover and air cleaner assy
« on: July 03, 2015, 12:11:44 AM »
I'm trying to bring back to original my 69 LM-1 engine compartment. The previous owner like very much chrome....(yark!!!). Anyway I go part by part, slowly but surely !

From what I've found here and there, the original valve cover for an LM1 should be the orange ones, same color as the engine ? And the air filter assy should be black, with the chrome top ? Right ? Anyone can confirm me this information, also is it the same parts as the SS 350 ?

Finally where can I get those same parts, repro or NOS ? I'm lost since there was so many options and different setup.....aluminium cover, chrome, etc etc...

Thanks again guys, it's so nice to see all your knowledge !

here's a picture of my engine bay, like it is now:

Originality / Original GM rims
« on: July 01, 2015, 10:45:48 PM »
I'm trying to find out some original Chevrolet 14x6 Rim for my 69 Camaro. Ideally they would be all 5 matching dates, slightly before sept 68, the built date for my car. My car is equipped with drum brakes.

So from what I've read everywhere, I have two choice of wheel:

-14x6 XN coded wheel (Rally wheel for drum)

or

-14x6 FC coded wheel (regular steelies using hub cap)

For some reasons those 2 (FC and XN) seems to be very hard to find for my built dates. From my understanding, the FC wheels were more used on the 68 Camaro, since there was more disk brake options for the 69 cars. Most of the XN wheels I've found we're dated for later  1969.

Any idea or comment are welcome, is there another coded wheels I could use ? Is it really just FC or XN that could fit my drum brake equipped car, date wise ?

Maintenance / Radio antenna bezel
« on: June 13, 2015, 10:48:10 AM »
My car has been restored in 2007 by the previous owner. I have the Radio antenna on the car, but miss the nut/ bezel to keep it in place. I ordered a new bezel, together with an O-ring, but the diameter is way to big to fit the thread in my antenna base. Maybe I have the wrong antenna/base installed ? Maybe I ordered the wrong part from HeartbeatCamaro ? Anyone can help me please ? Here's a picture of my current antenna base.

Originality / RPO Z87
« on: June 09, 2015, 12:57:18 AM »
My 69 RS was restored in 2007, by the previous owner.

When I looked at the Cowl Tag, the interior is coded 712, (black custom bucket). According to the picture, do you guys think it's really a 712 ? It should not be 713, Black Houndstooth ? I believe I have the RPO Z87, as I have the hood insulation, wood dash, the door molded, etc. So I have 2 questions:

1-does I have the right interior and seat clothing ?

2-is there any place on the POP or the Cowl Tag where I could see if yes or no the RPO Z87 was installed from the factory ?

Picture of my current seats/interior:

We don't see very much the seat, but it's a vinyl with clothe material in the center.

And here's the door, and they look to be the original ones:

Originality / 69 RS headlamp washer
« on: May 12, 2015, 01:28:09 PM »
I'm buying a 69 RS camaro fully restored. I have'nt seen the car myself, just on picture. So far, the car is a complete matching number, according to an AAG certificate, and also using the decode tool.

The current seller who restored the car said that there's no headlamp washers on the car. Is there any real RS without headlamp washers ?

My father had a very similar RS back in 1969, and he had the headlamp washer installed on his.

Any idea ?

Decoding/Numbers / Is this an LM-1 ?
« on: May 12, 2015, 12:22:12 AM »
I'm new here, and just buying a 69 Camaro RS with 350 ci engine. After reading many text through internet, I realized that my car might be an LM-1. The car is coming with a AAG certificate (from Tenessee), and the engine is stamped: 19N507951 T0830HS. The car was built the second week of september 68, so it would fit within the 4 months of LM-1 production.

Anyone can confirm if I'm right or wrong ?

Restoration / Matching date for wheels
« on: May 12, 2015, 12:11:54 AM »
Hello guys and all Camaro fans !

I'm new here as I'm currently buying a 69 RS Daytona yellow, my first muscle car ever!  The car is a matching numbers LM-1, with all the original components, except for the wheels. So I'm looking for original Rally wheels for my RS.

After searching on the web, I realized that the wheels required, are 14x6 Rally, coded XN (drum brakes). Now I'm wondering about the built date for the wheels ? I want the car as original as possible for exposition, so if the car has been built the second week of september 68, what would be the perfect match for the wheel's built date ? Before September of course, but does 5 or 6 months before would preserve the originality of the car ?
