General Discussion / Re: Dealer number
« on: September 08, 2016, 12:21:48 AM »
It is pretty scary that they can have information so far off like this. If you go to the NCRS data base on line and plug in Kansas City, MO is comes up with zones: 3, 5, 48 and 13.
If you do the same for Benton Harbor, MI it results in 3 listings and they are all Ned Gates at zone 44 and 45. How in the world can they have National Car rental in Kansas City or any other result in Kansas City for zone: 45?????

Yes, I'll give you that for sure: See finger tip facts listings below which is also a late 1967 publication:

Kurt, not sure what publication your pics came from but GM Heritage under options mirrors the finger tip facts and Price and Facts books. So, perhaps this was another one of those early things like "bumble bee" stripes starting with D91 in 68 then changing to D90.
Only surprising thing I am seeing is the 2nd edition price book lists the same where as many other changes were updated. I wonder what's the date of the GM publication change or if there were any AIM's or Engineering changes that depicted this change......

Just as info as stated, the 1968 1st edition (Nov 67) Price and facts book excerpt attached. Odd thing is that if the original intent was to fit only disc brakes with rally wheels you'd think by the second edition the disc brake comments would have been removed. But, 2nd edition (Feb 68) mirrors the first edition as far as how ZJ7 is listed.

Guess just one of those things....

In 1968, were disc brakes required in order for you also to have  the optional ZJ7 Rally Wheels. Original Chevrolet Price books under ZJ7 state: "Available with Power Disc Brakes" in the first and second edition, Chevrolet Price and Facts Book, GM Heritage and Finger Tip Facts state the same.
Have read some posts to the contrary...

Paint codes are listed by their general 2-letter codes, not the Trim tag codes that designate the upper body colors along with lower where applicable. If you look over the CRG listing for window sticker codes, they are listed only as double letter codes, Trim tag paint codes are not listed on the window sticker:
http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#ExteriorColors:S:RPOCodes
The only time you may have different letter codes for colors are for two-tone colors which there were none of in 68.

Holding off on posting any other production numbers at this point.

That's the number for Fathom Blue, Tuxedo Black was the lowest production color in 68, then Fathom Blue followed by Palamino Ivory.

Book has numbers for two-tone paint colors where applicable but not for a combination of color with vinyl or convertible top.
A/C ECL's are not listed individually.

Well perhaps GM thought of those as non-standard models because they do have the Z28, Z22, but no Z10 or Z11 and they also don't list the COPO #'s......although they do have some stranger COPO items listed like for 69: ZV7: COPO Transmission M21 or ZP1 C.O.P.O Tires but no 9511, 9560, etc.
Strange......

Funny thing on GM's calculations because they have a % column for all their colors, they first subtracted the number of special and prime cars from the totals, then did the calculation based on that total.
