There is a green 69 Phase III with a white stripe that was in the Otis Chandler collection.I'm just not sure if the Baldwin Motion Phase III cars meant L88 power or if they got the 425 horse 427.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 Z28

I showed my 69 to a supposed Camaro expert when I first got it and because my trim tag had NOR288257 he told me it was a Z28. According to him the NOR28 made it a Z. He owned 8 Camaros at the time and was misinformed. I owned 3 and didn't know what all the stampings meant. I was curious and wanted to learn about those stampings so I am glad I found this website. Many so called experts out there. Definitely buyer beware.

Best thing I can tell you is crawl over every inch of that car to look it over. Jack it up and look underneath. Take pictures of all stampings and post them here before you buy. The guys on this site are the experts

Always sell with the original engine. Having the original engine for your Camaro is a big plus.

Restoration / Re: Will this wheel and tire combo work?

I hope you find your answer. I too will be running torque thrusts on my 69. I don’t know what size tire yet as I am not even close to getting it running. I do like those torque thrusts. I think they’re the best looking mag wheel for any 60’s muscle car.

Welcome Riker I too visited the CRG often before joining. It is a wealth of information. My 69 SS396 does not have the original block either. Maybe one day I will find it but I don’t sweat it either. I got a big block to drop in it when I get it going. Welcome aboard

Prayers to John’s family. John was so willing to share his vast knowledge of Corvettes and Camaros with us all. Even though I am not an expert on my two favorite cars as John was and so many of you are I will strive to be like John and share what I know when asked. Especially to the young enthusiasts who will be driving Corvettes and Camaros in the near future.

Welcome aboard Tim. I added pictures of my 68 grille. The pic in the woods is when I first bought it in 1988. I was third owner and besides a repaint it was in pretty original condition. The pic in the driveway is much later after body work was started. I sold that car years ago and these are the only two pics I found of the grille. My 68 was also a base model 327 210hp 07C. I hope these pics help. And definitely keep coming back to this site as the guys on this site are very knowledgeable.

Joe welcome aboard and good luck on your search. The 69 is my favorite year Camaro. I have had mine for many years sitting and waiting for me to get around to fixing it so I don’t blame you for wanting a running and driving hot rod. They’re out there. Be patient and spend a lot of time on this site as these guys are the most knowledgeable Camaro experts around.
