Originality / a/c hose sizes
« on: January 30, 2015, 08:21:33 AM »
I have a 67 rs/ss 350 with factory a/c. the condenser seems to have 2 size outlets, a size 12 (5/8) on top and size 10 (1/2) on bottom.

the smaller hose runs to the drier, but my original and after market fitting is hose size 8 (13/32).

the larger hose runs to the muffler, but the muffler outlet is size 10 not 12.

the rear outlet on muffler runs to the poa and both are size 12. (thank god)

the other side of the drier is size 8 and runs to the expansion valve, but the fitting on the exp valve uses a much smaller hose(sorry cant tell size).

so here is my questions. 1. is the condenser incorrect or the drier/muffler size fittings wrong. 2. is the muffler incorrect. 3. is the fitting on the exp valve incorrect.  please, please help!

Decoding/Numbers / 67 poa valve
« on: October 08, 2014, 04:49:22 PM »
I have what I believe to be my original poa valve. my car is a 1st week April 67 build. the info on the poa is "056" "Frigidaire" part number "0602". if the "056" is build date would it be correct for an installation 10 months later? thx

thx for the replies! I have the cbtn book and also read about the release dates. is it possible that new production 291's made it into late march built engines?   to me I would assume not and gm was trying to reduce inventory of the 462's. so I would lean toward the 462's also. but it is complicated because of the change over dates.

my car is a 67 350 rs/ss was born 1st week of april 67. what are the correct head casting numbers for my 350. is it considered early or late?  so far it could be 3917291 with out temp sending drilled for early/late or 3890462 for very early. I have heard of some 291's with cast dates in march. this is very important to me as my block is correct with a cast of C137 and 3892657 and vin. thx howard

I have a 67 rs/ss capri cream (t code) with black vinyl roof. Before I stripped the paint off the bottom side of the pillars they were painted black along with the lower rocker area. For a correct restoration, do I need to paint the underside of the pillar area black or body color?
