Originality / Re: trunk mat cuts
« on: May 18, 2017, 07:42:51 PM »
I purchased a reproduction a few years ago, but when it arrived..  it was *nothing* like the original (not the material, the thickness, nothing!).. so I returned it..
Gary did you ever find a reproduction mat that was very similar ?   Or has anyone had a good experience with any repro's at all ?  and if so who ?

Thanks

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Caveat Emptor...forget something?

Agree, I don't believe anyone here had a problem with the way it was described at BJ.  It's the current sellers avenue he had taken when he initially listed the car for resell.
I do believe that anyone that restamps an engine has one agenda on their mind. And that's to fool the public for a profit.  It's not for a pure restoration purpose.  If so then we'll be seeing date coded restamped body panels next.

As for using the term "restoration engine", I'm hoping it's goes deeper than that.  Simply rebuilding an engine would be considered a restoration IMHO

You could also shop around for a set of original 1.94/1.50 and opened them up to 2.02/1.60.  More of them around.

You can buy a Spectra tank through Amazon with free shipping. Amazon has excellent return policies. I do not deal with anyone who does not take responsibility for shipping damage.

Bought one off Amazon and was very pleased with condition.  Paid $112.13 out the door w/tax and free shipping.  But anything can happen during shipping, why I'd want to be able to return it...just saying.

Where are you searching ?  They're out there.  You can try calling one of these 3 guys too depending on your location.  Bill Mock 918-333-0748 (Oklahoma) or Arthur Gould 631-269-0093 (NY) or Ron Burke 480-720-8000 (AZ).  All are very reputable water pump rebuilders and they'll have some on hand also.

You can replace the mast ... simple,  if your wanting it to remain cosmetically correct.

Welcome neighbor,

Your very close to me, I'm in Ft lauderdale (Pompano Beach) and still have a place in Plantation (west) that I rent.  I dropped a call to my Uncle (awaiting return) who has lived in Hillsboro, Ohio for the last 45-50 yrs and my father who's also from that area (Winchester).  As Bentley stated...many small rural agricultural towns,  you never know.

BTW...Happy belated Bday Bentley..lol

i would like to get rid of my unused radio antenna with out leaving a hole in the the fender. and not any body work or paint. i would even consider just replacing it with a retractable one. is there any products on the market to fix this.  Thanks
Sounds like you don't use or have a radio and you just want to plug up the hole without doing any bodywork... yes ?  Reason for suggesting a retractable antenna, then yes that's your best option w/o it looking botched.

Overall that just kinda seems odd though  ???

With Barrett-Jackson having a no reserve that's the last place I'd be running it across the floor.

I usually try not to comment on issues like this for the simple fact as I have a tough time putting my thoughts into words.  Although I do not personally know John nor have I met him; I feel that I owe him a sincere Thank You for all that you have accomplished as well as generously given of that knowledge to the Camaro and Corvette junkies of the world.  You probably do not understand the magnitude of the impact you have made on many of us without ever realizing it.  But you have.  When the time comes please tell my pops hello for me and that I look forward to seeing him again later on down the road.   Take care John & God bless.

I've learned a wealth of 1st gen knowledge that's even beyond my belief from John and many more of you here.  I really like reading when John had something to say.  The sharing of his experience, knowledge and history with GM could almost at times make you feel as if you were right there at the assy-line.

Thanks John for what you so kindly shared and taught me.

My prayers and thoughts are with you, and God bless.

Well that's interesting  :o  I didn't think OTC replacements had date code ink stamps on them.
