Sauron327 was referring to your powerglide pedal bracket with the nova pedals. PG = PowerGlide

General Discussion / Re: '69 Camaro parts at Charlotte
« on: April 14, 2016, 04:43:49 PM »
Prices for parts and cars were all over the place in Charlotte...   Purchasing cars (or even parts) at a large meet like this is almost a dice toss, given limited time/access to inspect the cars and or parts.  On Saturday afternoon at Charlotte, I did see several cars with SOLD on them, but one doesn't know the price they sold at... regardless of the high prices marked on the windshields.. :)

Yeah what they sell for is a mystery, but from what I looked at during the Portland Swap meet, everything was so high you couldn't even begin to make a reasonable offer. For example there was a 67 Convertible, Claimed true SS/RS 396 car and original, wouldn't let anyone open the hood so there was the first red flag, had a 68 RS grille in it, supposed to be Marina blue but was closer LeMans. Overall a decent driver quality, asking price was $49k, though with what you could see it was a high 20's maybe low 30k car.

there was also a 82 Z28 4 speed car with 1500 original miles that the guy was asking $37k. I don't think the third gens value has shot up recently.

sounds like a lot better deals at that swap meet than out at the Portland Swap meet a couple weeks ago. Both cars and parts were way over priced. Not much in the way of early Camaro stuff either.

Garage Talk / Re: Z28 Emblems.... HOW MANY have been made??

Yeah I read that, and I have learned a lot more about first gens since I was 10 years old thinking that.

Gary, Ed,
I can totally remember being that newbie when I attended my first ALL Camaro show back in 1992. I was an "enthusiast" of first gens, though I didn't own one, and I could identify a 69 "Z28" by its emblems and its overall great looks but I really knew nothing about them, as it turns out. I arrived at the show in my recently acquired 1979 Z28 (which I loved) and quickly found myself surrounded by Z28 badged Camaros with 302 engines. I had never heard of a Chevy 302. I just assumed a Z would have been available with any of the performance engines and trans available, including automatics. I was 18 at the time and someone could have easily sold me a 69 "Z28" with a 350 and A/C and, if I didn't become passionate about originality, I could still be trying to defend its legitimacy today. :-[  I'm not saying that I'm not tired of seeing innocently, falsely badged cars but I can surely see how and why it happens. A "middle-of-the-road" car guy sees a look that he likes and then copies it. No mal intent.
We had a fellow come in and buy a new well equipped GMC Sierra and then paid for ALL the Denali emblems and trim pieces and had us install them. I was thinking, C'mon man! But, now he has the "look" without the price tag or lower fuel mileage. ::)

I was just like that when I was growing up, though I remember seeing my first early 68 Z/28 that was pre Z/28 badging and just had 302 emblems and I was utterly stumped because only Z/28's had 302's and there was no emblems on the car, plus it was missing the cowl hood that was apparently standard on all 67-69 Z/28s right? lol.

Restoration / Re: Pistons for a 1967 327/275
« on: April 07, 2016, 04:52:06 AM »
Consider another option - use the 327/350 cam.  It would help reduce the dynamic compression and it still will idle like an original engine.  This cam will like the higher compression without pinging.  I run one in my 350 Corvette and it is VERY easy to live with pump gas and 10.4/1 compression.  I have very thin steel shim head gaskets and factory forged flat tops with 64CC iron heads. No issues at all.  Just a closed hood cruiser.

The L79 is a great cam, had one in the L30 in my 68 for a long time. It was exactly as you say, easy to live with but its a tame cam when stuck in a 350. In the 327 you know that its not the factory 275hp cam, it has a little more aggressive lope to it. For clarification as well my 327 is a std bore with the original pistons still in it. Here is a clip of what my stock L30 sounded like with a 350hp cam stuck in it. Now it has a comp 30/30H in it.

Restoration / Re: 1967 Convertible Top Cylinder Fluid
« on: April 07, 2016, 04:40:43 AM »
The last 67 convertible my grandfather and I flipped had typical hydraulic fluid in it like for a floor jack. We used a long piece of clear hose to fill the pump and then just ran the top up and down to bleed the system. Worked great till the day we sold the car.

One of our members  does signs and embroidery and things like that for a living and he did the road flooring. Its a heavy banner material that he was able to print a asphalt grain and then the logos look like they were painted on.

Thanks! That's probably my favorite 69 in the club, I really like the white interior as well with the rally green. That car is a fairly fresh restoration. Its a #s matching L35 BB car.

Been awhile since I have posted on here but wanted to share some pictures of the display the Camaro Club I am VP of did for the Portland Roadster Show this year. I had both my 68 and my 2014 SS/RS along with 8 other members Camaro's. Was a fun weekend and the topper was taking home Best Club Display! The 68 did ok against some super stiff competition in the restored class and ended up 4th behind 3 Hemi Mopars.

Those two 2 door fleelines look fairly nice and would make great old school customs.

Thanks for the tip!

Yes it's on the NCRS site but their is a notes section on the far right, usually is where the info is from, but on one of the results on the dealership the car is from states that individual has complete invoices from 64-72. I guess my question then is a factory invoice the shipping data, or more like a window sticker/build sheet?
