General Discussion / Questions about a 69 Z/28
« on: September 12, 2021, 02:56:03 AM »
So I went and looked a 69 that was claimed to be a Z/28 and after looking at it, I would say its a real one, but it had a few issues. The good was that it was a X33 car and the tag/rivets looked good. Main issue is of course the motor and trans. trans is long gone. Has a super T10, but the motor is a 69 302 motor that is in the window for correct casting date to cars build date. Problem is they have decked the block and the while the Z is legible, the D is almost gone and the rest of numbers are non existent. My main question is currently how big of hit is that in value on the cars currently? It does have the correct crank in it and pop up's. not sure on the rods. The 12 bolt and 4 leaf springs are still in the car and alot of the other stuff checks out as pointing to the real thing. Car is a odd color combo too. Is a factory Cortez Silver car, with dark blue vinyl top and dark blue std interior. Its a total project and in a million pieces, so trying to gauge what would be end value if restoring the car back close to how it came originally.

Garage Talk / The other cars you all asked about...
« on: August 21, 2021, 10:31:59 PM »
So on my post on the video on my twin 68's, others have asked to see a little more on the tri fives and the 33. So here is those photos.

Starting with the 33. Its an all original steel pickup. Pretty much a early 90s street rod. My grandfather built it right before I was born and I have grown up in the cab of the truck and its what got me hooked on old cars.

Then the 55 Chevy is a Bel Air 2 door Hardtop. Been with my grandparents nearly 50 years. We did a complete rotisserie restoration a few years ago at the house.

Then the last tri five is our 56 Chevy 150 named "Miss Taboo". Its a real deal early 60s custom. Was originally built between 1958-1960 and was on the cover of Rod & Custom back in 1960. The car has many many modifications. My grandparents owned it once in the 80s, sold it, and then we were able to buy it back in 2008 and then did a 5 year restoration on it, putting the car back to its early show glory.

General Discussion / Neat Video of my 68 Camaro and C10
« on: August 20, 2021, 05:26:02 PM »
So a couple weeks ago a younger guy came by the house to do some filming of my 68's. He is getting started with doing car videography and had yet to do classics, mainly tuners. So offered up the twins and we had a half a day of filming the cars. My grandfather helped out with driving one of the 68's. I think the results came out pretty good!

Garage Talk / My 68 Camaro's new twin!
« on: October 11, 2020, 04:08:49 PM »
Well its been awhile since I have posted here. My excuse is that I have been busy wrenching away in the shop. 2 years ago I picked up a 68 C10 that was pretty rust free as a winter rig and something to drive to work after race days so I didn't have to spend most of the night converting my car back into street trim. Well that lasted all of about 4 months. As soon as the wet weather hit, the windshield started leaking bad. So like most projects, that failed seal turned into a full frame off restoration. The truck was a factory long bed, but the box was toast so, cut the frame down and made it into a factory short box and got a new box for the back. Pretty much right off the bat the theme was to build a twin to the 68 Camaro and sharing as many things as possible. So the truck had to be painted blue, have rally's & redlines, have a 4 speed, and a 302 looking motor. So over the last year the truck has been transformed into a pretty good twin to the Camaro. The blue is factory C10 Medium blue poly and white (truck is factory 2 tone truck), the 350 has been dressed with a Z/28 intake, correct 68 chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Swapped the granny gear 4 speed with a M21 4 speed using Chevelle and Tri five pieces to make the shifter look like the factory installed it. Then to cap it off it has 8" rally's and redlines to wrap up the matching. Really the only big difference is the interior colors. The camaro still has its original black deluxe. With how much of the inside of the C10 is painted I went with blue interior to match it all, but with all stock looking things. While not a 100% correct for 68, most people will just see a nice stock looking pickup. Now to start saving to add a Lemans Blue 68 Corvette to make triplets, lol!

General Discussion / 1967 Camaro Fisher Body Number 1?
« on: June 30, 2020, 10:00:52 PM »
I saw this link on another car site I frequent and its caused quite the stir there, I looked at the pictures and I see a lot of issues that I think are odd with the restoration, even with it being a supposed very early car, so it would have some deviation from normal production. It just seems there is too much wrong for the "restored to original" claim.

What do other think and does anyone know of the cars history?

General Discussion / My 68 Camaro and I in our 5 mins of internet fame
« on: September 20, 2019, 04:41:45 AM »
Been awhile since I have posted, but I'm still here lurking. This week I had the opportunity to drive my 68 up to Renton, WA to be on a internet streaming tv show that is put on by Turn 10 studios. They are the company that develops and produces the Xbox video games called Forza Motorsport or Forza Horizon. Had a great time talking about cars, especially the Camaro. I know I probably got some facts wrong when talking about originality, was trying to keep it all straight!

Here is a link to the show:

Warning the show is 2 hours long, really start getting into the Camaro stuff at the 45/50 min area.

Was wondering if anyone from the site here will be attending the annual historic races at Portland International Raceway next month? I plan on being there for Saturday and Sunday for the car show portion with the 68 Camaro and catch the racing. Would enjoy meeting up with anyone that might be there as well!

General Discussion / 1967 327 Smog Pump and Brackets Value
« on: April 08, 2019, 05:09:37 PM »
Last weekend going through the shelves and cabinets for stuff to sell at a swap meet and forgot I had a 67 smog pump off a Camaro we flipped years ago. I only have the pump w/ pulley and the two brackets to mount on the motor. Came off a 210hp 327 car. Don't know if the pump is still good, it was in a bucket when we got the car it came off of the rest of the system was long gone. What is the rough value of smog pumps? Looking to probably sell this as we don't have any 67's anymore.

Garage Talk / First time firing up the old cars this year...
« on: February 12, 2017, 05:36:37 AM »
Finally got a decent day here in the Portland area today so got the 68 fired up to charge the battery and begin to figure out the jetting on the holley. Also fired up my 33 ford pickup or as its know a Camaro in disguise since its 80% Camaro parts. Finally had a good reason to try a new camera's video option.

Maintenance / DZ 780 Holley Carb jetting help.
« on: January 22, 2017, 05:46:38 AM »
Hey guys, wanted some input on some tuning issues I'm having with my Holley on my 68. Its a DZ 780cfm reproduction of a correct Z/28 carb. This thing is running super rich so I know I need to jet the thing down. Mainly rich in the secondary's, but it reeks of gas even at idle.  I've never messed with a Holley so I don't know how touchy they are with changes, meaning do I need to drop a few jet sizes to see small change or only a size or two? Here are the specs of my current setup in the car for further info:

68 327ci (not bored) L30 bottom end. factory crank, rods and flat tops. 68 camel humps, I cant recall if 1.94 or 2.02 been close to 10 years since the heads were done. Comp 30-30H cam (like a normal 30-30 but set up for hydraulic lifters). Winters 69-later over the counter Z/28 intake topped with the Holley. Stock exhaust manifolds and stock points ignition.

I was planning at seeing what is in it and then drop 2 sizes in both primary and secondary. Am I in the ball park for a first step or need to go less/more?

Garage Talk / My 68 recently was in Muscle Car Review
« on: December 10, 2016, 05:39:31 AM »
About an issue or two ago. Cover had the class of 71 (with the plum crazy 71 cuda), I saw my 68 made the readers rides section of the magazine. I wrote in what feels like forever ago. I was really surprised to see in print. First big publication, I have ever had printed on one of my cars. My grandfather has had some magazine articles done with his rods and customs.

General Discussion / 2015 Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance
« on: April 28, 2016, 04:21:18 AM »
Forgot I had these photos, but this last summer was the first time I have entered the Camaro in the stock portion of the Annual Concours d'Elegance held in Forest Grove, Oregon. Was a interesting time having be present during judging (I am used to doing ISCA shows) and having to start the car and have them check all the lights other components. Only had one complaint though with the judges and that was they were not complete experts on Chevy's cars (my class was GM cars 60-72) because I got into an argument with them over transmissions. They were of the belief that the M in M20,21,22 stood only for muncie and you couldn't have a saginaw M20.

Was surprised to take 3rd in class though because there was some amazing cars in the class. 2nd place went to a nice 65 Buick Riviera and First went to a 2 owner 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova that was fresh off of restoration. I've fixed a few things this winter and ready to take it again and see what happens.

First car on the grass!

The Stunning Yenko next to me.

Been awhile since I have posted on here but wanted to share some pictures of the display the Camaro Club I am VP of did for the Portland Roadster Show this year. I had both my 68 and my 2014 SS/RS along with 8 other members Camaro's. Was a fun weekend and the topper was taking home Best Club Display! The 68 did ok against some super stiff competition in the restored class and ended up 4th behind 3 Hemi Mopars.

General Discussion / Any info on Willapa Harbor Motor Company?
« on: July 11, 2014, 04:13:27 PM »
I got my shipping info in the mail a couple weeks ago and so far I'm coming up empty handed on info on my 68s original dealer. The car was shipped to Willapa Harbor Motor Company in Raymond Washington.

I used that database of dealerships on the NCRS site and have hit a roadblock. A result is noted to have complete factory invoices on cars but their is no email to get in contact with them about inquiring if they have my cars. Also is a factory invoice like a window sticker or like a inventory list? Last 67 my grandfather has came with a inventory list from its original dealership that showed the car on the lot.

Any info is good info just trying to find anything on my 68.
