Looking at my car today, it seems that I remember the water temp gauge wire routing around the ex. manifold to be a bit different than what it is. This is an original 327/210 hp with A/C car. Anyone have a pic?

General Discussion / 1969 Bumper Jack Color
« on: July 16, 2017, 06:36:26 AM »
Howdy all. I've read the 3 year old bumper jack posts, but didn't see my question answered there, although the question about the gray on the base and hook are answered.

Can anyone tell me the correct color of the mast itself - I saw it listed as silver cadmium in that thread (and that looks right by my memory), so can anyone suggest an off the shelf color that would be right or at least close??

My car isn't a concours car - though it's an original car with a 19 year old paint job (in lacquer and orig LeMans Blue), and I'm the original owner.

Thanks in advance!

Restoration / Lacquer question
« on: June 14, 2014, 09:48:05 PM »
Howdy all. Got a paint question about my darlin's LeMans Blue lacquer. I seem to have acquired several scratches, along with a few bad chips (down to metal >:(). It lives in the garage under a good cover, and I've put a good coat of wax on the chips, but I badly need to cover those chips with paint and seal the metal, so can anything else be used to touch it up besides lacquer?? I've had zero luck (other than bad) finding any lacquer touch up paint anywhere. What about acrylic urethane? Then, of course, there's the issue of primer to cover the bare metal?

Originality / A/C compressor/muffler mystery
« on: May 25, 2014, 03:38:08 AM »
Been reading up on my A/C compressor/muffler, and can't find any reference to a system without a muffler ???. AIM shows one, and I've seen 'em on others. Don't remember seeing a system without one - doesn't mean they aren't out there, though.. Anyone got a clue why the muffler wouldn't be there? I'm not aware of anything being replaced in the past (brain cramp?). There IS a slight possibility that my mom might have had something done to the A/C when I was letting her use it while I was working out of state and she didn't inform me (she was having memory problems :(). Other than that, can anyone shed any light on this mystery? 11A build; 327/210; PG; PS.

Originality / T3 Replacements?
« on: May 18, 2014, 04:45:40 PM »
Howdy all. Noticed Friday night on the way home from the cruise in my 69, that my T3's are rather dim. Since Lectric is no longer reproducing them, what would y'all recommend for a replacement? I don't plan on having it in a points show, so I'm after something that performs better than the T3's. Thanks in advance.

Originality / 69 Coupe vacuum hose
« on: May 12, 2014, 06:34:21 PM »
Howdy all. My 69 is an unrestored 327/210; powerglide; PS; A/C car. At the rear of the intake is a vacuum fitting with 2 nipples - 1 to the A/C vacuum canister inside the L fender, and 1 to the tranny. The AIM doesn't have a clear pic of this (or a description), and  I'd like to double check it because I had to put a small hose clamp on the tranny tube side >:( (after finding a split in the short non-orig. hose) due to not being able to get a hose that will fit over both nipples - they appear to be different sizes. ??? Can anyone clear this up for me?? The space between the fitting & the steel tube from the tranny is only a couple inches. What am I missing here?

Y'all take care,
Mike (orig. owner ;D).

Originality / Incorrect stickers
« on: May 11, 2014, 02:39:29 AM »
Howdy all. Still reading, and see that I have a couple of incorrect stickers >:( on my 69 - black & gold air cleaner sticker & green & white coolant sticker. Can't peel them without the paint coming too. What's the best, least damaging way to remove them?

Y'all take care,
Mike.

Howdy all. As I said in an earlier post, I'd like to remove the ex manifolds to de-rust them and install a new heat stove. Does anyone have a source for the correct rivets (and the 1 small bolt - or screw?) to attach it? How about a good method of removal for the original rivets and bolt - screw?? Was thinking of trying to use a chisel to pry them out, or just cut 'em, drill 'em, and replace. I want to go this route because this is an unrestored original ;D. Ideas?

Mike.

General Discussion / Best coating on ex manifold after de-rusting
« on: May 09, 2014, 04:01:22 AM »
Howdy all. Been (still am) reading everything I can on the site ;D, and have a question. I'm planning on removing my ex manifolds to install a new heat stove, and the flexible dust covers around the inner fenders. While the manifolds are off, I'm gonna soak 'em in Evaporust, and am wondering what to coat them with after that :-\. I'm leaning toward either Boeshield or the Hot Spot version of Cast Blast. Right now, I'd like some suggestions, whether one of these two or something entirely different, and why. Keep in mind that this is an unrestored original ;D! So, in light of that, I'm leaning toward the Boeshield so it won't be forever new looking and will develop a patina. What say the hive??

Mike.

General Discussion / Camaro Nats
« on: May 05, 2014, 02:39:01 AM »
Howdy all. Wondered if any other FLA. folk are going to the Nats in MD?? We're officially booked in the Travelodge in Frederick as of tonight! This will be our 1st visit. Any tips?

Won't be taking the car this time - not enough $$ to rent an enclosed trailer or for the extra gas to tow it this year. Got the truck to pull it though - '06 Silvo 1500 HD. It's a PITA to be on a fixed income!

Hope to meet some of y'all there.

Y'all take care,
Mike.

General Discussion / 69 Camaro RH Inner Fender
« on: May 02, 2014, 03:16:21 AM »
Howdy all. Gotta do more checking, but in the event I have to replace my RH inner fender, which manufacturer would y'all recommend? It's a plain jane - not RS, SS, or Z. Lookin' for OEM quality here, not price.

Y'all take care,
Mike.
