Found this ex Jim Hall  1970  Camaro for sale by the Canepa Collection  http://www.canepacollection.com/detail-1970-chevrolet-camaro-trans~am-used-10720340.html.

I remember seeing Vic Elford race this car to victory in 1970 Watkins Glen Trans Am and ever since that day I have been a big Vic Eford fan ........... No price mentioned but one would probably need to be a member of Jay Lenos more money than brains club.

Back in the day the understaffed tech inspectors primarily focused on safety items and paid little attention to body and suspension mods....... In fact at the 69 race at St. Jovite one of the local inspectors made up a set of templates for the major makes but the SCCA decided not to use the probably because they knew that none of the factory cars would pass.

 Jon,
In his book Sunday Driver Brock claims that the car he drove was specially built for him to drive...... According to Brock the car was rather hurriedly thrown together and was a bit of an ill handling beast.
By the way if you would like a copy of Brock's book for your library please let me know and I will mail it out to you.

While surfing the web the other day I came across a great website called Man and Machine, from Australia of all places, they feature Muscle cars and Classics of all makes and models with an element of iconic Machines to add to the mix.............. They have a lot of cool videos that are very professionally done.

Neat stuff Jon............
Back in 1968 I was in LA building engines for some  Australia racers I used to buy a lot of my parts from Bill Thomas and in those days it was a real happening place Their primary focus on drag racing and Corvairs with a small bit of road racing thrown in. I think they were mainly brokers with most of the good stuff coming from Traco and other local suppliers.

Met him at few races back in the day and he always struck me a very arrogant individual ..........The title of the book more or less describes his driving style.

Nice work Steve I am really impressed with the build quality the cars and one can only imagine what a nightmare it must be acquiring parts from the other side world to keep them running.

In my opinion the single most important thing you can do when building a race engine is find yourself the best machine shop that you possibly can and preferably one that specializes race engines only........... Have them line bore your block, mill the deck then hone the block with a torque plate attached ........The other important item in your build is the crankshaft we had ours custom ground to assure we had the correct  clearance for our Clevite bearings then we would send the crank out for nitride treatment. For our engines camshafts wear was not a big issue so we used a heavy weight oil on the journals and lobes but the one thing we always always did was to prime the oil pump with a drill before we fired it up.

If my memory serves me correctly from my dealership days the brass inserts were installed on radio equipped cars to prevent interference from static electricity....... Back in the day many radios were installed by the dealership and I seem to remember the inserts being part of the radio package.

Gorries was a very cool dealership by Canadian standards .......... As teenager I remember visiting their used car lot and drooling over a large collection quality used Corvettes.
