Decoding/Numbers / Re: Power steering pump decode

Assembly station L or R? Any idea what those letters stand for? Thx for the info! Good stuff.
Still surprised power steering pump decoding isn’t common like just about everything else.

Is there a source to decode power steering pumps? Can’t find anything in the Chevrolet by the numbers book or on the CRG site.  Thx

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Correct Engine Pad Stamp?

No. Just trying to document as much as I can. No reason to restamp it. Never plan on selling it and it’s not like it is a Z28 that brings big bucks. Just nice to know it is as original as I hoped when I bought it.
It’s been an enjoyable process.

So, even though the date code on the back of the engine is Dec. 6, 1966, the stamp will read Dec. 7 since that is on the protectoplate?
I assumed V for Flint Michigan would preface the date since that is where 8 cylinders were built. But since there is a T on the protectoplate, it was built in Tonawanda not Flint?

Decoding/Numbers / Correct Engine Pad Stamp?
« on: January 20, 2022, 01:30:52 PM »
My engine pad stamp on my 67 rs was decked many years ago. Trying to find what should have been stamped.I finally was able to locate the engine block date code and found it to be: L66. (Dec 6,1966) I assume. 327/275hp was made in Flint. Suffix is MN.
Car was built third week of December1966. So, with that information, would the pad be stamped: V1206MN? Is engine date code the date stamped on the pad? Thx!

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Distributer..Possible factory mistake??
« on: March 03, 2018, 06:25:48 PM »
I just pulled out the 1967-1968 Camaro Reference Book by John Hooper. Under the casting numbers for 1967 distributers, 327/275hp (auto) 1111249
                                                                                                                                                                                 327/275hp (manual) 1111150
Now I am very curious. What would be the difference between the two?? I would really like to know why the 1111150 is in my car with automatic transmission...
This is the best Camaro forum so I am hoping the right person reads this post.

Decoding/Numbers / Distributer..Possible factory mistake??
« on: March 02, 2018, 07:26:46 PM »
My 67rs 327/275hp built in Dec. of 1966 is supposed to have a 1111249.  Mine has a 1111150 that was supposed to be in a 283/195hp (manufacture date Dec5/1966). Is it possible the wrong numbered distributer was put in the car because maybe they didn't have enough correct distributers that day? Date code for this "wrong" distributer is right on for the build. This 1111150 seems to have a worn bushing, but I don't want to rebuild it unless it came with my car. Thx!

Originality / Re: 67rs pinstripes
« on: December 30, 2017, 01:33:46 PM »
If anyone else is interested, I found something pretty close. 3M 72202 Scotchcal Striping Tape.  1/16"x3/32"x3/32". The gap is a little narrower, but at least the stripes are right. Found on many sites but ebay has the 150' roll for 22 bucks.

Originality / 67rs pinstripes
« on: December 28, 2017, 08:52:27 PM »
When my 67rs was repainted years ago, the side pinstripes were not re-applied. I am searching for the correct size vinyl pinstriping to use instead of painting them. So far I have not located a dual pinstripe that measures 1/16"x1/8"x3/32". The closest I have found is 1/16"x1/8"x 1/8" made by Prostripe. Has anyone had any luck finding the correct size? Thanks

Decoding/Numbers / Carter Quad #?
« on: July 06, 2014, 07:41:01 PM »
I have narrowed down what Carter Quad I need for my 67rs that was built Dec. 7, 1966. (California A.I.R.) automatic tranny. The early carb 7037202 or the mid carb 7037212. Anyone have thought about the correct carb?

On occasion, did the factory install carbs meant for standard trannys onto a car with automatic tranny?
