General Discussion / Camaros.net password reset by admin?
« on: June 23, 2016, 11:29:16 PM »
I've seen references here to threads on Camaros.net, and have also seen them refer to CRG... so my question is, have any of you received an email from an admin on Camaros.net claiming to have reset your password? I got one, and haven't requested a reset, so I'm concerned it may be phishing or a scam

Here's a pic of the one I saw very close to yours. Don't know where I got the pic.

Thanks Jimmy! I was told by 2 people that this color combo was only produced in Z's. Do you think there's any truth to that?

Very cool color combo. Reminds me of Jimmy V's 69 Z, except yours is burgundy. Keep the pics coming ... :)

Yup, never seen another one exactly like this one, although I have seen the same combo in a rally sport. Love the color and the white top really provides a nice contrast.
BillOhio's car will be very similar, too, and actually his car has the flat hood and non-rear spoiler like mine was when I originally bought it. I don't know his interior color, but I don't think his is a vinyl-top car.
Thanks, Jimmy!

Nice car! So how was the trip? Is the car home yet?

I would highly recommend that you change the transmission fluid for that stiff shifting and change the brake fluid too after sitting so long.

Mike.
Thanks, Mike. No it's not home yet... It's actually never been "home", since I moved while it's been undergoing restoration. Yes, it's been that long!

My mechanical guy said second gear will be stiff (getting into it) for awhile until the new syncro's break-in.

Transmission has been rebuilt so gear oil should be new. Brakes are all new so, likewise, new fluid. The shifter itself (I think) is the culprit. Once before it was stiff and require lubrication after blowing out all the sand and dirt (car had been sandblasted while undergoing some bodywork). I plan to take out the shifter and clean thoroughly, then if it hasn't improved, I'll buy a rebuild kit.

Here's my stamp, 02D car. Also a pic of the drain that must've been there when I bought it back in '77. Sorry the pic is so small, the stamp is "28  69"

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Caveat Emptor...rather aggresively priced

As my dad always said, "you gotta start somewhere, and it's easier to drop the price then raise it" (when your selling). Trouble is, with a starting price like that, most will be too put off to bother trying to "deal", at least I would be...

Restoration / Re: "69 Front fender splash apron staples
« on: June 17, 2016, 11:40:12 PM »
Dale, review how the staple on back side looked as it is somewhat unique. I spent time working to duplicate & not difficult but it takes a little tome and practice. I used a needle nose to curl as originals but it takes another set of hands to keep staple taunt while curling one end at a time.
Thanks, yes, we figured we'd need the extra hands so my brother went over (today was the day, in fact) to get the aprons on. I don't imagine the curls are perfect, but I'm so anxious to get the car home I don't want to open my mouth about another detail!

Steve, your last picture of the three - a few posts above - the left front corner of the gas tank appears to have a "dimple". Is this a tank drain? My car is also a 2D and my tank, to the best of my knowledge, is original (I bought my car with 57k in '77, no reason to suspect it's replacement). It has this drain, which I am very curious about.

That is just a dent. I haven't verified the tank date. I suggest that you verify the tank date. The drain may have been added at some point, but not from the factory.

I've got pics t post of my tank date and the drain, I'll find the thread and get them on this weekend the tank is dated 28 69

Originality / Re: DId a 69 Z use the capacitor on the coil?
« on: June 16, 2016, 03:59:02 PM »
Bill, I *think* (and that's a dangerous thing) the throttle return spring hooks into the hole where the capacitor bracket is mounted in your picture. BUT...I'm not certain which car my memory has revived. Coulda been a 350 (my El Camino) or a 396 (69 Impala)

Glad it's not ruined. There for a moment, it was bigger and redder than anyone anticipated!

I'm about 20 min ENE of Greensburg. I need to get to Brownstown with my car to see a guy I used to work with sometime. I'll have to get a hold of you before hand and maybe we can meet up.

Cool, yes!
