I have the original spiral shocks on my 69 Z, but as expected they are not road worthy.  Can these shocks be rebuilt and restored?  If so, Who can do the service?

By the way, Bullitt65, I noticed you were looking for a set.  Coast 2 Coast camaro has a set of four, but very expensive.  It might be worth a call.

Thanks,
Bryan

Originality / Re: 1969 paint code 52 Garnet Red, need help!
« on: September 02, 2013, 05:50:26 AM »
Thank you Heartbeat396!  Your information was very helpful and what I needed.  I did not want to go to the paint store empty handed, not knowing myself what the paint codes were.  Now, I can do as James suggested above and get the original paint on the cowl scanned, which turned out to be one of the only places original paint was left on the whole car.  Now, what I'm hoping for is that the results of the scan match either PPG 2076 or SW SR640 straight up, without needing to vary the shade.  I think that would ease my pain and worries of getting the right shade.  This car has only been painted once, but they nearly did to good of a job!

Heartbeat396, do you know if those three codes for the interior paint can be crossed over to a more modern paint if they can't or won't do laquer?  What type of paint do I need to ask for to do the plastic parts as in the console and the dash / instrument cluster housing?  Is there an additive to make the paint stick to the plastic better?

Thanks,
Bryan

I just noticed something very strange about the burnished brown car that was with this lemans blue car from this past auction.  Please access the team camaro thread posted by ZLP955, a couple of threads above.  I may be very wrong but check out the trim tag on the burnished brown car.  NOR 148792 on a 10D build date with an X77D80 X code.  If it is a Oct. 4th week of 1968, why is it a X77D80.  If it is a Oct 4th week of 69, why is the body numbers below the 05C car with a body number of 324823.  If I have stuck my head up my backside, well I did it again, but I think I saw something very wrong with that trim tag.

Thanks firstgenaddict for the very helpful information.  What type of paint did you use on your Lemans blue car?, very nice restoration by the way!  A fellow camaro nut friend has suggested using a single stage urethane to get that laquer look.  I wasn't dead set on BC/CC, but I guess I'll have to bow up and decide, tough decision!

Thanks,
Bryan

Originality / 1969 paint code 52 Garnet Red, need help!
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:45:10 AM »
I need help from some of you veteran restorers.  I have a Garnet Red 69 Z/28 in the disassembly stages.  I have collected information from several paint suppliers, and the first was a Sherwin Williams Ultra 7000, and second Metalux Basecoat.  The chip the computer came up with for 52 Garnet Red was SR 640, but there was a Kagillion shades close to the SR 640.  I actually have been a PPG/Ditzler fan and would like to use PPG BC/CC.  My question to the CRG is what chip has been found to be the closest to the original 52 code Garnet Red?  Is this same code as in SR 640 the shade across the board for all brands of paint for code 52?

Secondly, Does the interior color, which happens to be red also, have a paint code?  This car has red deluxe interior and I will need to paint the dash, dash cluster, console, etc.  How do you find out what shade of red this would be?  What kind of paint has been found the best for painting the plastic parts like the dash cluster and the console?

Third, I have a question about the Z/28 stripes.  What do the judges say about modern paint jobs with BC/CC and the stripes being part of the paint job.  Originally the stripes were raised and could be felt by the touch.  Is this modern Technology a factor that is accepted by the Judges? Or is there a procedure for this?

Thank You in advance,
Bryan

Nice Find!  I would like to bring up a point and question to the CRG members.  While scrolling thru the photos, the first interesting thing I noticed was the X3 on the rear seat bulkhead.  Was X33 or x codes in the planning stage for the assembly line this early?  Have other early Z/28's in the September range been observed with these markings?

I'm looking for the ORIGINAL part number and the existence of the 68 RS front wheel opening mouldings!!  These are the ones that STOP on top of the front fender rocker moulding pn#3928527-528.  The current part number for the 68 RS front wheel opening mouldings are 9785880-881.  These mouldings extend all the way to the bottom of the wheel well, and they will hit or run into the fender rocker moulding.  In my 33 years of having and loving Camaro's, I have only laid my eyes on no more than three sets of these mouldings.  And now, I need a set!!  If anyone knows of a reproduction set of these mouldings or a useable set, I'm interested!!

Thanks,
Bryan

Originality / Re: AM/FM Bluelight Amp Bracket
« on: August 07, 2013, 03:38:27 PM »
Thanks Mark!  It looks like I have the wrong bracket, and possibly the wrong amp.  My bracket is a triangle looking bracket that stands straight up off the top of the amp.  My amp also has the coil looking thing (In the far right of your picture) coming off the back, to the right of the fins.  My model number is 91BMP11, serial number 61SAA-0654.  The DS-501 is dated 6829.  Would you think I have the wrong setup?  This amp has the correct plugs to fit my bluelight, but that bracket is bothering me now!  Mark, Thanks for your help!!!

Would someone please post a photo of the correct 1969 amp bracket for 91BMP series amps.  What or where is a good learning source for U79 bluelight's, and parts and service.  Thanks in advance, Bryan

Originality / 1969 Z/28 original engine brackets and components
« on: July 29, 2013, 05:18:23 AM »
I'm new to the CRG forum and have been soaking up all the restoration information that I can find.  I have a request for some of you 69 Z/28 owners.  PLEASE post some pictures of original plug wire stands, the skinny one on the RH side and the wider one on the LH side of the intake.  The brake hose bracket, that's beside the larger wire stand on the LH side.  I'm after the correct bend and shape and the proper markings or stamps that make them correct for a 69 Z/28.  From what I've read on the forum, my car, an 05A build date, would be too early for a fuel line bracket, Is this correct?  Is their any markings or stamps, codes, etc. that would identify an original 302 flat bottom cowl induction air cleaner?  I'm afraid my engine was a victum of the chrome monster, and that monster ate my original brackets, and air cleaner!!!  Thanks for any help!
