Originality / 1969 paint code 52 Garnet Red, need help!
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:45:10 AM »
I need help from some of you veteran restorers.  I have a Garnet Red 69 Z/28 in the disassembly stages.  I have collected information from several paint suppliers, and the first was a Sherwin Williams Ultra 7000, and second Metalux Basecoat.  The chip the computer came up with for 52 Garnet Red was SR 640, but there was a Kagillion shades close to the SR 640.  I actually have been a PPG/Ditzler fan and would like to use PPG BC/CC.  My question to the CRG is what chip has been found to be the closest to the original 52 code Garnet Red?  Is this same code as in SR 640 the shade across the board for all brands of paint for code 52?

Secondly, Does the interior color, which happens to be red also, have a paint code?  This car has red deluxe interior and I will need to paint the dash, dash cluster, console, etc.  How do you find out what shade of red this would be?  What kind of paint has been found the best for painting the plastic parts like the dash cluster and the console?

Third, I have a question about the Z/28 stripes.  What do the judges say about modern paint jobs with BC/CC and the stripes being part of the paint job.  Originally the stripes were raised and could be felt by the touch.  Is this modern Technology a factor that is accepted by the Judges? Or is there a procedure for this?

Thank You in advance,
Bryan

I'm looking for the ORIGINAL part number and the existence of the 68 RS front wheel opening mouldings!!  These are the ones that STOP on top of the front fender rocker moulding pn#3928527-528.  The current part number for the 68 RS front wheel opening mouldings are 9785880-881.  These mouldings extend all the way to the bottom of the wheel well, and they will hit or run into the fender rocker moulding.  In my 33 years of having and loving Camaro's, I have only laid my eyes on no more than three sets of these mouldings.  And now, I need a set!!  If anyone knows of a reproduction set of these mouldings or a useable set, I'm interested!!

Thanks,
Bryan

Would someone please post a photo of the correct 1969 amp bracket for 91BMP series amps.  What or where is a good learning source for U79 bluelight's, and parts and service.  Thanks in advance, Bryan

Originality / 1969 Z/28 original engine brackets and components
« on: July 29, 2013, 05:18:23 AM »
I'm new to the CRG forum and have been soaking up all the restoration information that I can find.  I have a request for some of you 69 Z/28 owners.  PLEASE post some pictures of original plug wire stands, the skinny one on the RH side and the wider one on the LH side of the intake.  The brake hose bracket, that's beside the larger wire stand on the LH side.  I'm after the correct bend and shape and the proper markings or stamps that make them correct for a 69 Z/28.  From what I've read on the forum, my car, an 05A build date, would be too early for a fuel line bracket, Is this correct?  Is their any markings or stamps, codes, etc. that would identify an original 302 flat bottom cowl induction air cleaner?  I'm afraid my engine was a victum of the chrome monster, and that monster ate my original brackets, and air cleaner!!!  Thanks for any help!
