General Discussion / Re: Storage during off season ?
« on: November 26, 2020, 12:20:29 PM »
My routine for Michigan winters. I have an un-heated insulated and finished garage. Same routine for 8 years with no issues. It works for me.

Around the first week in November: Starting with a thoroughly cleaned and detailed car. I fill the tank with Premium gas, add Stabil Long term Storage stabilizer (use Stabli 360 for everyday use), change oil, pull the battery and put on my work bench, hook battery to a Noco battery maintainer, over-inflate tires 5#, roll windows down 6 to 8", place OmniDry desiccant packs inside cab & in trunk, cover car with a good quality car cover, place car in a CARJACKET CarBag with additional OmniDry desiccant packs placed in various areas underneath the car, place anti fatigue rubber matting under all tires and zip up bag to seal in. Remove car in April/May. Note, you will have a slight fuel smell when first unzipping the bag however no worries it will quickly dissipate and there will be no lasting side effects.

General Discussion / Re: Camaro Superfest

Anybody going to Camaro  Superfest in Yipislanti Michigan?

I have attended several and will be going again this year. Nice close to home relaxing event. The dates are June 29 thru July 1. I usually go to the show on Saturday and Sunday but if you can only go to one then Saturday is the best day. I took a third place last year however I felt that I should have been in a different class i.e. street/slightly modified vs. stock/restored. Probably my fault for not recognizing it. BTW I met Kurt S. at the first show I attended in 2013. He was kind enough to stop and visit with me as well as get in a few pics with me and my Camaro. It was the highlight of the event for me. Wish I would have had the foresight to ask him more questions about my car. Disappointing to hear you won't be there this year Kurt the guy's will miss ya.

The company has a real bad reputation. Been discussed about before. I would never look at anything they have.

x2 Agree! I recall reading a thread on Team Camaro about a guy getting scammed by this place. The owners then tried to defend the allegations however the majority of the guys on the forum who chimed in reported similar happenings.

General Discussion / Re: Advice on selling 69 Z/28
« on: November 25, 2017, 04:49:11 PM »
Thinking about trying to down size my hoard a bit & maybe let go of my 69 Z/28. I was hoping for some advice on how to go about actually selling the car in this day & age? Where would you list it? would you try and fix a few small things first or just sell as is etc.. I think I've owned it 18 or 19 years now & only put about 7000 miles on it in that time.  It's far from perfect, but is still a nice solid  # 3 car. Thankfully, I don't need to sell it, I'm just looking for some info from others that have been down this road.
Any & all advice would be appreciated, Thank you.

I would think you would have no problem selling your Camaro its a nice looking car as is. Don't sell yourself short, your being honest and up front about the condition of it and potential buyers will recognize that. I would address the issues you are aware of but that's just my opinion. Being a long time owner is also huge selling point and it doesn't sound like your pressed to sell it so those are more positives.

I would list it in the classified section of a Camaro forum such as Team Camaro. Also, just advertise it at some local car shows and word of mouth will get around. There are a ton of guy's from the muscle car era who are approaching retirement, looking for a hobby and trying to bring back a little of their youth. As far as a value of it goes I would just do some comparisons and you might be pleasantly surprised. In my opinion the last of the baby boomers have expendable cash and are driving the prices up. Good luck!

Very nice looking car, congrats on your purchase. With thoughts of retirement approaching soon, I bought my Camaro just as you did. That's a beautiful car, I don't think you will regret it one bit. I know I didn't, enjoy, have fun and drive it!

General Discussion / Re: Kidde fire extinguisher recall
« on: November 10, 2017, 10:35:40 PM »
I would highly recommend a HalGuard H3R Performance fire extinguisher for your classic car. It contains Halotron, electrically non-conductive "clean" extinguishing agent that rapidly turns into a gas. It attacks fires involving flammable liquids quickly and safely, with no danger of electric shock, and without leaving a damaging residue to clean up. Check it out, In my opinion it is well worth the investment!
