Originality / TH400 Transmission Harness Clip

I need to know the correct finish of the transmission kick down harness clip that attaches the harness to block. It is shown as item 5 in UPC M40 A8. Wikiparts lists it with a latex finish (which I'm assuming to be rubber) yet all of the repro companies list it as natural steel.

If anyone has an original clip installed on their car and could have a quick look at it for me I'd appreciate it!

BTW...this is for a '68 L35/M40 car.

Originality / Lift Brackets......Again

Searched and searched but couldn’t find the answers to my questions...

I’m going to install the lift brackets on my ‘68 BB L35 engine and have a few questions:

1. Are the bolts longer on the intake manifold to compensate for the added thickness of the lift bracket? If so, what is the length? Also, are they shouldered/non-shouldered and does anyone sell them (AMK?).

2. What type of bolt is used to attach the rear lift bracket to the cylinder head? Size?, shouldered/non-shouldered?, bolt+lockwasher or just a bolt?

Originality / Clutch Rod Blanking Plate

The blanking plate in the picture below is installed on the firewall when an automatic transmission is installed to fill the hole used by the clutch rod. Was this plate installed by Fisher and was painted when the firewall was painted or was it later installed after delivery by Fisher. Couldn't find any mention of it in the AIM and am trying to determine the finish on the screws.

Does anyone know the difference between steering column broadcast codes CB and KB? This would be for a '69 tilt column, floor shift with assembly number 7808154.

Decoding/Numbers / Seat Belt Date Code

I started cleaning my seat belts today and noticed that all of my rear seat belts have two date codes on the tag. Has anyone else seen this? Why would there be two date codes?

For what it's worth, this is a 01D build car.

General Discussion / Z11 Pace Car Auction

There's a local auction coming up for a car that's advertised as a real Z-11 Pace Car. Very little info has been included in the listing other than the pictures below and that it's a 350, 4 speed car. What do you guys think of the tag? The rivet on the left looks like it's been drilled out.

Originality / 396/325 (L35) Oil Line Fitting

According to the AIM (U17 A3), the oil line fitting for an L35 that goes into the block utilizes item 6 (Bushing p/n 444030) and item 5 (Elbow p/n 444052). I've determined that the "Bushing" is nothing more than a reducing union and the part of this union that screws into the block is 3/8" NPT.

I ordered the Elbow from HBC and while I can't say I'm surprised (), the end of the Elbow has been machined for 3/8" NPT threads. While functionally this would work just fine and would clearly eliminate the need for the Union (Bushing), technically it's not correct unless the Bushing is a 3/8" to 3/8" Union which would make absolutely no sense. It seems that ALL of the Camaro parts suppliers offer the same "incorrect" fitting. Since my goal is to restore this car exactly the way it was originally built, I'd rather not eliminate the Bushing.

So, my question is, does anyone know what size either the Bushing or the Elbow is suppose to be? I could easily have the end of the Elbow machined down to the correct size if I know what size it should be. Hopefully someone has already gone down this path before me and could provide a little bit of insight.

BTW...this is for a '68 just for reference.

Does anyone know what size item #3, Screw Assembly (p/n 9428499) is? Looks like AMK doesn't list it. Is it hex head, phillips head, does it have a captured washer, finish?

7803778 - '67-68 PG or TH column shift with tilt wheel
7803779 - '67-68 floor shift with tilt wheel

7804299 - '69 standard column shift
7804298 - '69 AT column shift except tilt wheel

Does anyone know what the correct head configuration is for screw number 9421137 (AIM UPC D55 A2)? All of these screws in my console are hex. The replacements I just received from AMK (p/n B-11144) are Phillips head.

Originality / 68 SS Black Horn Cap Disassembly

My 68 SS black horn cap is starting to show it's age. The underlying metal is starting to pit beneath the brush satin finish and the black background looks like it could also use a cleaning. I've searched the usual repro suppliers but it appears that none of them offer this style cap. I did, however, find just the cap here (http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-horn-cap-standard-or-deluxe-steering-wheel-without-button-insert-1968.html) but it does not include the "SS" insert. I also found the cap with the insert here (http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/16391/Camaro-SS-Horn-cap-satin-finish-1968/) but based off of the excellent info in this thread (http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=10675.0;all) it would seem that the HBC cap is incorrect.

So I could either buy just the cap or have my original replated to remove the pits. I haven't yet found just the 68 "SS" insert so I'm hoping my original will clean up and reuse it with either the replated original or a repro cap.

It's not very obvious (at least to me) how the insert is removed from the cap. Can anyone shed some light on how they come apart?

General Discussion / Shipping Data Report vs Trim Tag

I just received the shipping data report for my '68. The production date in the report is listed as February 15, 1968. The trim tag on my car is 01D (4th week of January). Is it unusual for the production date to be later than the date on the trim tag?

I've confirmed that there was a GM strike in January '68 so maybe my car got held up because of the strike??? There are a few assemblies and parts on my car which sort of points to this theory; (rear axle assembly is dated February 7, 1968, steering box is dated February 7, 1968, rear brake e-brake brackets dated February 5 and 6, 1968 and power brake booster is dated February 2, 1968).

Anyone else have a Camaro built around this time frame that has seen the same thing?

Originality / TH400 Kickdown Harness Clip

Does anyone know who might sell the clip that secures the kickdown harness to the transmission on a TH400? I'm not having much luck in locating one. The GM part number is 1368774. Item 2 in the attached picture. Item 3, screw, (p/n 3837950) is also pretty tough to find. This is for a '68 L35.

A picture from a members car might also help.
