You deserve it Rick, what goes around comes around!
Along with Ron having the original 327 block (I have the heads on the 350 in it now) I found out It has a GM cowl hood (yeah I checked out how to tell the diff) A PY 12 bolt out of a 68 Camaro original 256 gear now a 355 gear. Something I already knew but Ron confirmed that the fold down rear seat is not original

Just to keep things in the good news spirit and all round Camaro/Chevy nice guys. This week I was also in contact with a former owner(2 of them ago) who built my current ride a 67 rs. I already had his contact info that was passed along by the previous owner. After a pleasant phone conversation I told him that I was going to be in his area on Sat. and would he mind if I dropped in. He said not a problem. We arrive and he has ready for me some touch up paint, the 67 AIM some after market rs floor mats. We yapped about my car and his current projects a 57 belair, 69&66 corvette. He then invited my wife and I inside to watch a slideshow of my car when he first bought it (it looked a lot different) then offered me the original short block for my car at a very reasonable price. I was blown away by the generosity of this gentleman. Mr. Ron Dodds of Arva  Ontario. Thanks Ron for the pics !!!

I think with all the information out there such as the orphan section here it would be easy to get more motors and such back together with their cars. But how many of us take the time to get interested in the history and stories of our cars? For every member here their must be 20 who are oblivious or plain just don't care or believe the story that the car they bought is matching #'s.Its not until that one owner that buys something and takes that keen interest in searching the history that things get back together.

The guy I bought my 67 rs from was offered the original 327, power glide, console and shifter and didn't want them. When I called the guy this week who had sold him the car. He was flabbergasted he didn't want them. Sold all that stuff within a week of selling the car.Good news is he has a can paint for me to touch up some stone chips.

Well there is more to the story, some twists and turns and some fibs. mostly surrounding the salesman who owned the car in the early 70's  owned it again in the 80's and sold it in 2001. He made something as simple as not giving me a name last year into a year long frustrating search. Most of the info I thought I knew when I bought it was wrong and most of the info he gave the guy he sold it to in 2001 was wrong.
On the other hand tomorrow I am meeting the former owner of my 67 rs. He is not who I bought the car from but the owner before and the one who did the body work and paint. Had a great phone conversation And I have to be near his hometown anyway. It always should be so easy !

Well great news. I received my "package" from the government. Since it only contains current owners name and town I had to Canada411 and google the name. Well I found the owner, called him and said well this is coming out of the blue but do you own a 69 Camaro vert. He said its not for sale. I then said well I don't want to buy it but I am a former owner, then he really perked up. I told him I knew where the original block was and it was for sale. As it turns outs out the motor currently in the car needs a ring job (see first post on why I changed the motor in the first place) and he is very interested. Turns out the car is 40 miles away or 15miles across Georgian Bay in Midland Ontario. Gave him my email and will forward the  name and # of the guy who has the block now. He told me the car is in need of restoration anyway so having the matching #s motor will be great start. I will post some pics when I receive them.

The car is most likely not in Niagara Falls, I have received an email from the person I sold it to. She sold it in 1990. I have a thread on Team Camaro and have talked to members in the Niagara region who have not seen a 69 hugger orange vert. As a prospective buyer I can request or buy myself "used vehicle information package" in Ontario from the government for a car I want to buy.  Maybe I will try that also.

I am the former owner of a 69 rs/ss Camaro convertible. I removed the motor in 1977 as it needed a ring job I could not afford. I sold the car in 1983 back to its first owner. The block crank and heads ended up with a guy who hoarded parts. 10 years ago he auctioned everything off. Through a twist of fate I know who has them now and he is willing to sell to the current owner. My only interest is in receiving some pics of the car to introduce car owner and block owner,
the cars VIN would be 124679N509386
