General Discussion / Re: 69 camaro front shoulder anchor point

Kurt I believe we are both talking about the combined system all cars have today. Pull the end and both top and lap come together not separate.

When I did mine I unbolted the top roof belt and screwed in the new belt to the existing top anchor and lower anchor and that was it. I left the belt clips in until I installed a new headliner then I removed those clips.

Restoration / Re: I need psychological help....

69 only,  I did the same thing but I always say "That's why god created paint" every winter I put my cars on my lift and go over every inch top to bottom I touch up and buff out everything. Then in spring I drive the hell out of them again.
Remember the day after the restorations complete it now starts day by day as an older restoration!

I was able to clean my tumblers and took them to my local Chevy garage and they simply cut me new keys from the numbers on them. I only had 1 ignition key nothing else. A previous poster was correct if you have a good local lock smith, they should be able to do the whole job pretty easy. My suggestion was only if you have good tumblers and no keys. Usually they are just really dirty and are not broken but rather gummed up to the point of not even turning!

My fault. I thought I wrote maybe I'd sell. I reread and modified it. Sorry for the problem. Jim

Originality / Re: 69 Bowtie question
« on: January 20, 2015, 10:05:24 PM »
Thanks John as I agree with you as mine is also black Primer which tells all of us that most all the ones for sale have the wrong zinc back plates. Then again one could always paint the zinc flat black!  Tkx again. Jim

Originality / 69 Bowtie question
« on: January 19, 2015, 12:47:01 PM »
Today I found this in one of my boxes. I removed it from my 69 Camaro in early 1970 as I wanted to paint my grill flat black with no Bowtie. I notice on all the ones for sale they all show the backer plate in raw zinc plating. This is a factory original and the back has a factory flat black finish on it and I know mine is correct as I removed it from the car myself back then and has remained in a box ever since.
That all said, what do you guys think? I also notice my 2 part numbers are 3949705 and the assy # is 3943219 and I see supposedly NOS bowties on ebay in the boxes and they do not have this number?

I asked this question with a picture today because I thought it was informative and now the post is gone? What gives?

Originality / Re: Speedo gear reduction
« on: November 26, 2014, 06:14:37 PM »
I know I am late to the party but what I did was get 3 or 4 different color (teeth count) speedo gears then I used my GPS to get my actual MPH and Id change until I got to the correct speed on the GPS and if the speedometer is off a bit after that, just make a note of how far off one way or the other for you record.
I started by counting the teeth and then ordering the gear I thought Id need and this took way too long as the gears are not that expensive. It def saved me a ton of time. I got some gears off ebay the others at a GN dealer.
