General Discussion / Re: JohnZ --

His advise, just golden. Followed verbatim.
I periodically review his tech articles to simply re-educate myself. My dad, who passed in September, said long ago" one day tuning these will be a lost art"

A few years back I tracked a correct, coded water pump per his advice. Certed, not a re-stamp, didn't break the bank. Got in a good conversation with the guy about John.

Gotta be a special heaven for car folks: smells of Canuba, race fuel, and 90wt,,lol!

General Discussion / Re: roller rockers

Thought he was running comp high energy long slots.could be wrong. Hear Howards makes a good stamped rocker. May be subject to class rules.
Left the HS's in mine purely for sentimental reasons...plus the stock covers cleared with a double gasket.

Race engine we run HS's with a girdle,,but engine wise, apples to oranges. Good for the application.
For a very serious application, I'd go shaft mount. BB's, my buddies say a must.

Dad's last car show, passed about a week later,  a kid came in with his gf, and parked next. I loved the car, nicely done,,sounded bada#s. Laughed and told him our Anglia sorta the grand daddy of his. Seeing them in sandrails,,jeeps. Pretty good reason,,available: realative cheap, reliable power. Still a sbc,,how many different combos were buit with those?

It might have been better if it didn't look like a hearse.

General Discussion / Re: Carburation Ideas

Dad had a 650 Edelbrock on the 302 when it was doing street/strip duty in the Anglia. Ran great, good manners on the street. I never played with it but said easy tuning,,rods.

Same old carb was on his last project. No issues, no leaks.

It ain't broke. Don't fix it.

Looks good. Agree with the Remoil,,if you are inclined to coat it,comes in wipes.

Mine has trace,,at most. I left it. After 53 years, (now), if that's the worse, not bitchin' 😉

Click on chassis in the CRG reports, might find what you are looking for.

Mild Modifications / Re: Distributor conversion to electronic ignition

I put the same one as Ed mentioned in my Z. Utilizes the white resistor wire. Very simple install. Also got a set of date coded wires from them. Coil is a "correct" one from a vette supplier. Fires right up, no issues with timing. No issues under load.

Well in the U.S.
I guess if you are in the know,or controlling the strings, start investing now in quarries overseas, lol.

Nope,,dinosaurs used to quarry the stone, for the wheels, emits mass amounts of methane..

Restoration / Re: draglink restoration

Ditto on the gun blue. Per 68Z build thread.
Also used it on driveshaft/yoke welds, and as touch up on dark phosphate fasteners. The little bottle goes a long way.

My first trial I had some flash corrosion appear, took about five minutes to redo, then wiped it down with rem gun oil, no corrosion, and it has been a few years. Humidity was probably the factor.

Sorry didn't specify, correct. Hook your vacuum gauge up to the manifold in it's place.

As per the instructions of JOHNZ that is the exact can many of us use.

X2
T off the manifold, 36*@3k, 72/76 jets. Just over 1.5 turns out gets me 11" at idle.

I think it was listed for 69's, picked up a nice manifold T to hook up vacuum to the distributor and brake booster.
