I was at my dealer today and he didn't have his info handy but thought he just sold a base vette in the high 50s and he said the z06 were in the upper 80s.  Not sure the z06 is the new one if it went up any. He thought they would probably get a z. Would be a fun car if someone else paid for it! 

Ordered it through Coughlins ( Jeg's family ?) Not a Z06, Stingray Convertible Z51--optioned what he wanted 72k. 2 more working days and he retires ,nice little present to himself. He was always into small British sports cars ,figures this one will be way more than enough. LOL

I know this one was ordered while #1 was in Vietnam (probably a promotion through the PX ,Harley was doing it when I was in the service) Bought it for supposedly substantially less ,picked it up in Michigan ,drove it back to Ohio, sold it after about a year to #2  for a claimed profit (who my Dad bought it from in 76). #1 looked but could not find the paperwork--I have the POP but would like anything else just for nostalgic sake. So this service offers those documents ?  Shame he didn't track me down sooner, he did have all the pollution control parts up to a few years ago (stored in his parent's garage). Sold just before we talked. As everyone knows, and maybe not, this is one of the biggest reasons to track down the roots of your car. Never know what is hiding in the rafters of someone's garage--forgotten about.

Agreed--I'm actually not reshooting mine ,they still present well and will offer a little character to the car. There are a handful of imperfections I'm purposely leaving--and that's one of them.

Beautiful work ,you are quite the artist. Forgot Napa put their name on Wix ,what I use on my daily drivers. Even my Zero turn. And you are correct, Wix is a very popular brand around here at the strip via the local engine builders--why I mentioned it. As far as Napa ,my Dad was just telling me he always ran their HD cap/rotor and points with no issues in the Z , and recommend it seeing as I'm going back to the OE distributer. Probably still listed.

Ignorant on this, assuming submit vin ? Pretty neat ,looking forward to giving it a try. #1 looked but retained no paperwork ( at first he thought he might have) Luckily POP was kept in the glove compartment--in the owner's manual. All these years.( In my safe now.)

I use Moroso. Baldwin is suppose to make a good HD filter as does Wix. Rumors spread around the track about issues with Fram collapsing and restricting oil flow--same summer a guy lost an engine at Thompson, and blamed the filter. I'm thinking 2008. True or not, don't know, I do know the price of a costly filter ( and Lucas oil ! ) is well under the price of a shot race engine ( or numbers correct ,virgin bore 302) All about period correct, but unless I plan on rolling it on and off the trailer ,sort of refuse to sacrifice the gains that have been made in reliability eg; gaskets-fasteners. ARP    Love them blue boxes. And Percy's make a locking header bolt that reallyworks. I guess it still boils down to the use of the car.

Always figured master cylinders were cast. Suckers bet on exhaust manifolds ,how long to burn the paint off? Mine have no trace of paint and were removed soon after the car was bought That Nova probably just rolled off the trailer to the lot. Surprised on the fittings. Mine are OE with no trace of color. Maybe a light spray for ID which quickly wore off ?  What wouldn't you want off that lot Darrell ?? Sort of depressing--I would have been 3 when the pic was taken. Novas ? Never really popular or considered muscle cars around here back in the day. Work cars. When I was a kid growing up, everybody's dad in the neighborhood parked their "work car or truck in the street" Lot of Novas. My Dad had one. Cheap, easy to work on, dependable and he didn't care about it. Although same platform as a Camaro. Same goes for mid-late 60's Impalas- Dad called them "old man cars"  Still does ! Now a following.

Wonder how many Camaros that car helped sell ? It inspired the look of my car back in 69---started out a Plain Jane per #1.

Matter of fact we drag race an Anglia, nostalgic gasser stuff, and I was on YouTube looking at some vid of it . On a whim typed in 68 z/28 and came across Jerry M. pulling gears in Old Reliable. Those 302's have a certain sound to them when they wail ,and the way it resonates through the car... have to experience to know what I'm talking about. I ran/run stronger small blocks ,not the same. ( 90" WB cars are a hoot too, different website) Sent a chill up the spine and reminded me I have one ! So in a way that old war horse inspired me to get rolling on the one to the left---Day 2 of course.

Very curious to see what it pulls at BJ this weekend. Sort of the Holy Grail for guys with 68 z's.

I'm not a body man, and luckily my car needed no work, just stripped and shot so I wasn't in the market for sheet metal. That being said my car is currently in primer ready for paint at the heated shop. My guy wanted to wait until spring to lay paint. I agreed no use transporting it home in this foul N/E Ohio winter. I think if you are picking away at it as money allows, really no problem as long as you protect the metal. Can always shoot it with  primer to protect your body work for now. Just do not simply cover it up and store it out doors. My opinion, others more knowledgeable than me should chime in. As far as primer we used  high end--anything is only as good as it's foundation.

gets worse. Degrees are getting longer to obtain eg; what once required a BS 20 years ago now requires a doctrine. I also work in physical therapy and hear the 30 something's complaining about 1. 6 figure average student loan debt. Was stated house will be paid off before loan. 2. Make considerably less as compared to their counterparts coming out of school 20 years ago. On average loans were able to be paid off in a few years.  I had a professor who lectured that this was on the horizon and it has since come to pass. Reason $$ for the schools via easy credit.

And no one dare enter the trades ?? Somebody used the term "grease monkey" recently in the treads: Know what these folks are starting at with 2 years post HS education ? Not getting rich, who is ? But a  good living in this day and age. Minus the 800 a month student loan payment. IBEW are running ads trying to entice young folks to enter the program.No luck. Found a niche for my son in the BS program for Welding Engineers. Guess what, AWS provides progressive scholarships for those willing to work. Oh, and companies provide paid internships during the summer , for those who earn it through hard work in school. Now if only he could pick up a new Z relative to 68 prices when he graduates ,the American dream ! Of course it would probably be sold once married, but thus the cycle continues !
