Byron, Be happy to do that. Thanks for offering. I’ve always knew that this car was somewhat special, therefore I’ve always hesitated to publish it. I tend to be somewhat secretive about the car. I drive it, but never park it without my eyes on it.
I suppose you’d like to add it to the database? If so, who do I send the files to?
Back to welding on the z11.
Thanks again,
Rich

Did he find any other shipper sheets?
Thanks James. Yup that's mine. I've been on here for years learning. I appreciate the info you guys have accumulated.
I've owned this car for 36+ years. I'm the 7th owner. I have spoken on the phone to or met every owner. Even the original dealership owner who gave me access to the paperwork. This was way back in the 80's before every thing got shut down for privacy laws. I've got the Shipper, Original Bill of Sale, and the page from the dealer inventory book, showing when it was shipped and when he received it. I also have a copy of every title for the car and old pictures from some of the previous owners.
Details of the car are basically a X22 O5A 718 Norwood built. L78 M21 BU.
I've been thinking about telling it's story here for years, but I get too busy in the garage. It's a long story just from my ownership of 36 years alone. The story of tracking the original owner and paperwork took years, (before the internet).
If you guy are interested. I'll try to tell it. I get busy as I'm doing a Z11 right now.

General Discussion / Help with 69 Z11 rear sear bulkhead marking
« on: October 29, 2019, 01:18:31 AM »
I’m currently restoring a 69 Z11. This is a one owner car. I’ve known the car for many years. I knew the owner and bought it from the owners daughter after he passed. It is original drive train and came with documents.

The rear seat area has a XO or a XD on the rear seat bulk head. I showed it to James (firstgenaddict) today. He suggested I post it here. So what is it? I thought it maybe X = houndstooth O = Orange.
What does every one think? Just wondering.
Thanks in advance. Rich

Decoding/Numbers / Another 5OR not NOR Trim Tag
« on: July 25, 2019, 09:16:55 PM »
I'm working on this car in my shopped spotted this trim tag. I bought me off guard, it has 5OR where normally NOR would be. as you can see its a 69 coupe, Hugger Orange, Std Blk interior. Late build 09D car. X11 code. With VIN 9N688113. I saw one other post here but have never see a tag like this. Thoughts? was this a late production phenomenon when the Fisher BDY numbers got reset?
Appreciate the comments,
Rich

Wow! What a time machine. Don't you wish you could tell those guys to "just leave the build sheet in the glove box please"? Having started working in the Tool & Die industry back in 1975 I was reminded how far we came 42 years later when I retired. Think of all of the advancements in computer technology with CAD, CNC, FEA and 3D Printing. I saw the transformation and it makes me appreciate what these guys at Fisher went though in creating our cars.

Camaro-wise I did design & engineer a plastic injection mold for the 1977 Z28 (no slash) grille emblem. It was late 1975 or early 1976. I can't remember at the moment. I was so excited because the Z/28 was coming back! I had a 74 Z28 at the time. Thinking it was the last of them. I begged my boss for the job to do the design work on the injection mold. Our job number was 1492.  The GM drawing was a full scale Mylar with no dimensions on it, So you had to use a vernier caliper to measure and add a shrinkage factor for the steel mold. That way the plastic would cool to the specified shape and dimensions after ejection from the mold. This was back before computers where widely used. We used drafting boards back then and had just gotten desktop scientific calculators. Finally we were able to park the slide rules and trigonometry books.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing,
Rich
PS...I traded the 74 for a 78 Z28 when they came out (4-speed, no AC of course)

Saw this on one of the Facebook sites. White with red interior. Awesome condition. They didn’t list the VIN. Enjoy, Rich

The NCRS Historic Document Service gives you the Official GM production date, Dealer Code, Zone Number, Dealer Name and City.

My Norwood built 69 has a 05A on the trim tag. NCRS says the official production date was May 1, 1969 (Thursday). The shipper/dealer invoice says it was shipped on May 2nd (Friday). My dealer new car record shows that it was received on May 5th (Monday). Dealer was located in Western Virginia (not West Virginia). Pretty tight timing.  Car was sold on July 8th. I have the original bill of sale also.
