Originality / Re: 69 Z Water Pump Pulley
« on: September 28, 2016, 04:28:37 PM »
It looks exactly like my original, correct part number, the S. I can't see any difference. I have not seen the repops though.

Here is a repop to compare with.

And another supposed original one to compare with.

Great car!! Does the family have any pictures of it back in the early years or before the restoration started? What condition was it in?

As stated by the others, they can be very hard to see especially if the engine is still in the car. I had to strip the paint, practically stand on my head, use a magnifying glass and a very bright light and then finally I could barely make out the last few numbers of the VIN on my 69 Z.

Tim,
I sent you a PM with some information that might help you track her down.
Do you have any old pictures from back when you owned it? How original was it? Original 302?
Good luck and I hope you find her!

Were you in Wisconsin when you owned the car?

I'm going to vote scam. Craigslist seems to attract many scammers. A lot of typos which is always a dead give away.

I just went through something similar a few weeks ago.... I was reading a thread over on Team Chevelle about a rare 70 L78 chevelle that was on Ebay. The more I looked I'm thinking this is my old car. I owned one just like it back in the early 90's. It needed a complete restoration when I sold it and even though I'm the one that found the build sheet behind the passenger door panel it DID NOT have the original engine. I had a complete title history on the car back in the day and called previous owners but the original engine was no where to be found. I had a correct coded block that I let go with the car. The VIN was on the ebay ad but unfortunately I didn't think I had any paperwork showing my old cars VIN. Low and behold I was going through some old paperwork a couple of weeks later and there was an appraisal that I had done on the car back in 1992 with the VIN on it.... Bingo, it was my old car and yes you guessed it, now its a totally restored, rare, 1970 L78 with the "original numbers matching engine" in it. 25 years after I sold it to a guy down in Florida its now for sale up in Canada.
Yes, its a small world with these old cars.

Restoration / Re: Dash suede paint
« on: July 24, 2016, 07:32:21 PM »
Yes.  I assume it's for a '69 Camaro?   PPG offers in Duracryl DDL.   Ref # DIA 9317.   It is lacquer, so not easy to get.   I'm not sure if there other paint types that offer the same finish.

You can try TCP Global - they maybe able to order it for you as long as you live in state where you can buy lacquer paint.

Instrument Specialities sells it as well:  http://www.instrument-specialties.com/products/

I just recently ordered my suede lacquer dash top paint from TCP global for my 66 Chevelle. Was no problem to get at all. It was not any more expensive than the base coat paint that my painter was going to get from his local jobber. It has turned out great, much more factory correct and I am really glad we are using it opposed to the base coat paints.
I talked to a guy named Jimmy Chips. He is an old paint rep from back in the 70's. Great guy, very knowledgeable and friendly. My 66 is a factory red interior car and he was a great help in looking up the correct 0 gloss dark red color.
Here is his number  858-909-2150  Ext. 135
Hope this helps.
