I too was always perplexed by this as well, thank you very much Rob for asking the question.

I'm not saying this to be nice, but to be truthful: this forum and the content posted by its users especially including Jon has changed my view of the automotive performance world and the direction I wish to go in when pursuing my personal goals. It is an absolute blessing we would have such a large and outstanding compilation of history in one or a few places.

Many thanks not just to Jon, but to everyone in this community.

IS it me or was this picture taken before any fender/quarter flare work was done? Maybe it's a bad angle or an inexperience eye. Awesome picture of an awesome car. Thanks to all involved in getting this cars story out into public view!

There are a lot of numbers that appear to be pointing to certain objects, as if the numbers reference information presented elsewhere elsewhere, any possibility that you'd have that info as well?

Thanks you, this information is amazing!

Sorry for creating such a fuss and then going AWOL. Family and work commitments prevented me from going, I knew something would come up. I was also ill prepared and didn't get a chance to really hash the trip out step by step. I had a chance to make it happen but realized trying to pull it off 2 days before the event would only leave me high and dry--many miles away from home. Bad idea.

Thank you very much for the photos and coverage. Really appreciated! I really know what to expect at future HTA events now, though. Maybe I'll make Sonoma next year.

Thank you guys very very much for the information. Of the many things in my future, I had planned for at least two things: to keep 15" wheels, and to track my car for fun every so often.

I was rather surprised when I found out just how limited it is to find off-road 15" tires, much less trying to find a variety of them! I thought with all of the wild stuff they have available for vintage muscle cars nowadays, old school racing tires should be a piece of cake.......WRONG.

Them things are actually going out of style, literally. I wouldn't doubt if HTA alone might be the only thing keeping off-road 15" tires in production in the first place!

Are these "vintage goodyears" still available to average joes like me?

I have a question about the tires and wheel setup.

Is there any chance you could give me the wheel specs and also the tire specs that you'll be using on the track(type, model, whatever)?

Are the tires going to be the same as the ones in the pictures above?

I did some research and found that finding good track or even hi performance street tires for these old wheel sizes is almost impossible. I'm wondering if I ever use Minilites or Torq-Thrusts if I'' even be able to find a tire for them. So I want to know what the REAL GUYS use on the track in Historic TA. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. They drive those cars as hard today as they did back then, it seems.

Thank you!

You have no idea how glad I am that you decided to paint it "original" green and not orange. Nothing against its later carnations, but that British green has got to be one of the best looking colors on any Camaro I've ever seen!

Fantastic results and thanks for sharing!

Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Headers

Are there comparable versions of any of the road racing headers such as the ones in this thread being produced today? Could you find similarly priced road race headers that might even be better? Amazing work!

John--I was under the impression it might be everything else but TA, so yeah I understand that HTA is a small part. Thank you

Robert--"cash for most of the events": What events are we talking about here? Sounds interesting and I definitely don't want to come unprepared!

I am pretty much sure I'm going now, and luckily enough I have one friend that lives in Santa Cruz and another that is moving I think to Gilroy in July, so I should be OK for that.

As for photo accreditation, yep, that's exactly what I wanted to know and exactly what I thought was the case. I don't have photo accreditation, I'm just a guy with a few cameras. Maybe I could call and pretend to be part of my local community college's newspaper/journalism crew.
hmmmmm...

So Mr. Raynal will be there ey? Boy do I have some questions for that guy!

Thanks you guys, big help. Now the decision is whether to go for one day or all three...

Thank you very much. To be straitforward, I didn't want to purchase the tickets and drive the distance to find out it doesn't have anything to do with HTA events.

I just have to ask someone who has been to these modern day events: how free are you to roam so you can take pictures of the race? Is it possible to get shots like the pictures in "vintage" threads, or is there some kind of strict access restriction for "normal" people?

It seems like back in the day, you could go just about wherever you wanted at whatever risk you were willing to take. I have a funny feeling the attitude is not quite as passive as that anymore.

Trans-Am Camaros / 2013 Monterey motorsports reunion: Who's going?

If there is a thread about this already, this can be deleted.

http://www.mazdaraceway.com/rolex-monterey-motorsports-reunion

I am obviously a new comer not just to the site but any type of SCCA Trans Am enthusiasm. So new that I don't really know where to go or when to see this stuff. I have seen many pictures of previous "Monterey historics" and would like to know if this is the same event.
I'd like to go but not if this isn't the same event.

Here's the meat of my question: Will this even have the typical historic trans am cars(AMC/Chevy/Ford)?

Who's going?

Ahh, that makes much more sense. Thank you very much...I was just curious
