Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Marshall Robbins - Carl Shafer
« on: October 08, 2015, 04:19:48 AM »
I placed a posting of this ad on the Trans-Am page on Facebook, knowing Marshall Robbins and Scott Dunbar would see it. Both agree its not the car the owner is suggesting it to be, and Scott contacted the seller about it. The ad has since been changed with any reference to its apparent racing history now removed.
I'm sorry to sound any any way critical--being that I know next to nothing compared to most of you guys...

...but I really think that given the significance of these cars today and their estimated values, people should be a little more careful with what they purport their cars to be.
It's so easy to say something, and yet so hard to prove it...guess people just want to make a quick buck[but it's not that easy].

Either you do the research to prove it to the buyer(s), or someones going to shoot you down....how do you want it?

Do you know if any of the HTA cars run restored vintage shocks like these, or do the substitute with newer technology?

Thank you for posting that video, James. That's got to be the best quality vintage T/A report I've seen! I wish the audio was better quality in older videos.

That particular 'woman driver'...  was pretty dang hot...  I wouldn't mind her slowing down in front of me.. :)
Absolutely agree, I recognized her right away: Liane Engeman
Very beautiful woman.

Nonsense, absolute nonsense.

Does on have to purchase some special VIP package to get back to where your car and the Alan Green car are sitting so you can see 'em up close? Love the simplicity of the interior and engine bay. Is the engine a DZ, or a destroked 350?

Unbelievably gorgeous, Jon. awesome car. http://www.historictransam.com/racephotos/2015Monterey-10.html

Think it'll ever make it on the HTA track, or was that not in the plan?

Personally I feel a one surviving set of headers, no gasses through them, should be on display.
Yes, I definitely agree with that.

Well Jon, I guess that means you volunteer to buy 'em and put them in a glass case for us. Thank you very much.  ;D

To be honest, you could probably afford to pay a top exhaust fabricator to teach you how to make your own professional level racing headers for less than $15k.  ::)

I really question their authenticity, not because I know better but simply from the quantity stated.

Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Penske Javelin 4 lug Minilites
« on: May 14, 2015, 06:00:31 AM »
What was the reason for doing this?

With regard to the 4 lug vs. 5 lug?

I believe I recall Jon or another knowledgeable member mentioning that Penske wanted to cut down on pit times, so they "removed" one of five lugs to speed up the swapping of tires.
(I'm sure[assume] there is a rule that ensures teams to place nuts on ALL studs; Penske's solution was to simply decrease the number of studs)

Objects de art is how I see these units now.

No No no, you're doing it all wrong, you need to mount it on a working engine...............then connect it to your wives blender or a washing machine or something. Now that would be a spectacle!

This guy seems like a really interesting person, so many interesting cars.

Any chance of making that interview available?

No problem, Steve. Honest mistake by somebody, possibly by Pete Luongo himself.

War Bonnet is down in Oklahoma and Continental Divide is in Colorado. No hills like that in Oklahoma!

Any chance either track still exists?

I want the RAMP TRUCK!!!

You know what, I'm surprised a 1-ton truck can handle the weight! Those trucks only have a GVWR of I think 10,000lbs. The truck eights probably 5000,+ 2,000 for the betal bed, at leaste, and then ~3,500? for the car....that's really pushin it hard!

Those trucks must have been going about 30mph up a hill!
