Restoration / Re: Inside picture of a 69 windshield washer pump
« on: August 31, 2015, 02:19:24 AM »
I forgot to ask you (never assume) which car this pump goes on - remember the RS pump mounts the outlets 90 degrees from the non-RS cars -

Just a thought -

Steve I would like to rebuild this wiper motor. Do you have any parts for that?

I have a couple of extra motors, but no new parts (other than the NOS washer pumps). About the only routine you can go through with these is replacing brushes and/or refinishing the armature, either one being a pain due to the brush location. If you have a gear problem, you have to separate the case, which is difficult at best, not for the faint of heart for sure. If Kevin W is a good rebuilder, you might try him -

I thought for a minute you might have been wrong on the engine code (the "K" was throwing me off). Need '67 expert '67 opinions !

Lawrence,

Where do you want to start ? Windshield washer, headlight washer, washer to wiper motor, all of the above ?

I've got NOS windshield washers and a complete breakdown on headlight washer components if you need them - take me a bit to dig them out, but no problem to do so.

Bushings in the lower "A" arm should be able to pivot on their respective bolts, plus the bolts on the upper cross shaft should not have been tightened or torqued until the car was at ride heigth with drivetrain installed, preferably on a level surface. You could possibly pre-stress the bushings if the upper "A" was installed and torqued to spec before leveling - resulting in a wierd bias. Just another thought -

Right Stuff Detailing, Fine Lines if they're still around. Inline Tube has great products, difficult web site to navigate. I've used Camaro Central quite a bit, too -

General Discussion / '69 LOS Pace Car opinions
« on: August 20, 2015, 03:17:51 AM »
I'm not as familiar with Van Nuys built Pace Cars, so you West Coast guys take a gander at this one and tell me what you think. Outside of the dreaded Ford fan sticker, it's a pretty decent looking car, with a number of small details that need changing. My largest questions are trim tag, and the "L" code the seller represents in the ad. Take a look -

General Discussion / Re: Timing Chain Cover
« on: August 20, 2015, 02:29:01 AM »
Yep - low horse has a smaller diameter balancer, thinner, too - just like the low horse small blocks as compared to the Z. I believe the 375 horse is an 8.00" like the Z's (mine is missing in action, one of the few things I have left to source), timing cover is obviously different.

Maintenance / Re: 7029202 Q jet secondary well fix
« on: August 16, 2015, 05:01:28 PM »
Finishing the operation - procedure is really this simple. Just take your time and the end result will justify your patience.

Tools required - flat file, drill, chamfering tool (or a large enough drill bit to chamfer the hole edges by hand), a sheet metal screw long enough to grip it with a pair of Vise Grips or a slide hammer, and a drop or two of oil to lubricate the "o" rings before installation. Plugs were sourced from Quadrajet Parts in NJ, a great parts and carb service source. All it takes -

Maintenance / 7029202 Q jet secondary well fix
« on: August 16, 2015, 04:54:03 PM »
For all of us with Rochester Q jets, here's a simple procedure you can accomplish over an hour or so with common hand tools that will effectively fix your leaking or potentially leak-prone secondary well plugs.

Disassemble the carb, remove the throttle plate from the body, and follow the steps as shown in the pics. This really appealed to my automotive therapy needs for the weekend -

Originality / Re: COPO Survivor Complete Smog Set-up--Wow
« on: August 15, 2015, 02:09:46 AM »
My X77 was undercoated by the dealer in Nashville - stated on the invoice. I'll have to dig out the '68 invoice - seems like it was, too - also a Tennessee car. Common thing for the dealers to offer around here, even though we didn't have the road salt then like we have now.

Anyone ever spot a date code on a diverter valve ? I've never seen a GH sticker, but the rest of the unit is phenominal. Love survivor parts like I do cars -

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Part Number Stamp or Sticker on Wiper Motor Assy
« on: August 14, 2015, 10:05:40 PM »
I have a question related to the wiper motors, so I guess it's OK to post here? I have a 69 Rally Sport, but the head lamp washer solenoid is missing. Shouldn't  there be an electrical plug in still there somewhere to operate the solenoid? Does it come from the wiper unit, or is it a separate part of the wiring harness?

The supply wires piggyback from the wiper motor terminals themselves - easy hookup -

Assembly manual is fairly vague for the CE3 installation -

Defintely riveted. Bonded pads came later to the party -

Shoes used to be riveted, also -
